Hi Reallusion
Do you may add to the 3DXchange a function for character creation from imported 3d elements?
For example. I want create a character in Blender (not in mega-expansive 3D Studio max - 3500 USD ) and how I can import them to iClone?

Hi Arnold,

I'm afraid that the G1 and G2 figures in iClone use the RL Bone system and it is quite a complex process to rig and skin the model correctly and not a simple conversion process.

3DXchange would need some major changes to make it able to import characters and rig them ready for use in iClone and I'm not sure that is on the cards any time soon.

Sadly at present 3DS Max is required to create the figures using the supplied Max Templates in the Developer Center.

Hi arada, This is really a question, suggestion for Peter.

Could REALLUSION make a properly rigged character a bit like MAX's bi-ped and then incorporate a system into iClone whereby you could import your 3D model and skin it, and Hey Presto! you have a new rigged character. Or maybe it's not that simple.

Hi Christy,

It's a great idea but adding those features to iClone would be a large proposition to undertake and this would push iClone into a fully fledged 3D modeller which is not where it's at this moment in time. Plus this would almost certainly greatly increase the cost of iClone and would probably put it out of reach of many people just as 3DS Max is.

Saying all that, with the very talented people at Reallusion I'm sure we can expect great improvements to come in all areas of iClone in the coming versions including character creation.

EDIT: Animize has replied to your other post on this subject. I think you will like what he has to say.
