just noticed that the quality of icone 2 textures degrade in IC3 - the textures lose definition. Here's a render from 3.0 and a render in 2.5 using the same characters
notice the 2.5 are much sharper, the texture details and color are much more vibrant

3.0 render of iclone 2 characters

here's the 2,5 render of the same characters

please have a fix for this - there are tons of g2 textured characters that will suffer if not fixed.

Hi Gabe,

I have found a problem myself that may be the cause of your render quality issues.

I had my Real-Time Map Size set to 2048x2048 under preferences but noticed that some of my renders were not as sharp as they were on previous exports.

I changed the Map Size to 512x512, clicked OK to set it and then back to 2048x2048 and suddenly my renders were pin sharp again.

I'm going to get this looked at by the team. It may be down to certain graphics cards or a bug within IC3 where the map size setting gets lost somehow.

Thanks for the tip Peter.  It seemed to give me some improvement but definately not as good as in version 2.5.  Hopefully the development team can come up with an answer.

Hi aknzrdude,

How do you set the Real-time map size in iClone3 to 8192x8192?
On my system, IC3 only allows up to 4096x4096.

this might be due to the graphics card - i use a ATI HD 4850 with 512MB Ram -

I need to understand how to maximize the crispness of my textures, pronto.

I'm getting too much blurring.

I have read the help on texture mapping, but I don't think switching to an alternative mapping geometry will help for arbitrary shapes such as clothing.

The help mentions painting over the UV map, but I'm not sure if I need to try to explicitly color the triangles.

I have also seen some forum discussions about increasing the size for texture maps to 8K squared.

Can somebody just spell it out for me in simple terms?
