iClone 3 What’s New:

There is much to discover inside iClone 3 and we are excited to set you on your journey into the most powerful toolset in real-time 3D animation.  What we have not included in iClone 3 is your stories and your imagination; the heart of iClone.  All of the engineers and Reallusion visionaries have spent countless hours pioneering and fine-tuning this release, yet the real killer feature and true magic of iClone is you.  Welcome to the 3D movie machine, iClone 3.

• Two Production Modes: Editor Mode and Director Mode

o Two ways to create with a dual-engine 3D animation studio.
o Editor Mode: Create your scene and define your actors.
   - Add props, actors and more to the stage, then edit their appearance, location or
         animation.
   - Use the in-scene object picker to select and edit inside the 3D preview window with
your mouse, hotkeys and right-click menu helpers.
   - Use the Timeline (Pro) or playbar action segments (Std) to fine-tune the scene for
         precise timing and performance.
   - Create and edit Actor animation with the Motion Layer and in-scene actor motion
building.  Select and pose any actor bone to create custom animation with Inverse
         Kinematics and Forward Kinematics (IK/FK)
   - Create and edit multiple cameras and lighting options

o Director Mode: Filmmaking just like playing a videogame.
   - Command how your Actors and iProps move and interact.
   - Control the handheld WalkCam or aerial FlyCam cameras with live view recording for
         first-person point of view
   - Use the Follow Cameras in actor or bird mode to move along with the action and
record every movement of any actor, prop or vehicle.
   - Use keyboard hotkeys W,A,S,D and the Num keys 0-9 to puppet and simultaneously
record the movement of actors, props and vehicles.
   - Experience the total play-to-create filmmaking process. Use a gamepad mapped with
the keyboard hotkeys to control Cameras, Actors, and vehicles.  (example: Logitech
      - Dual-Action gamepad + Xpadder.com freeware)

• Right-click menu system:

o Each type of object has its own list of actions and tools, just right-click any model to
bring up the object menu and your options for editing & interactivity are there.
o The Right-click system keeps you from having to search everywhere around the user
      interface for the right tool.

• DramaScript:

o An action script that allows users to define custom actor and object (iProp)
      interactivity.
o DramaScript is data used to associate a hotkey and right-click menu operation to
control live actor movement, movement on the terrain, how you sit on a chair, drive a
car, fire a weapon or ignite an explosion.
o Create your own unique movement behavior, automate the character personality, and
invent your own interactive Props (iProps) by editing and saving DramaScripts.
o Edit and save DramaScript with the free Microsoft XML Notepad

• Tab Track Editing:

o Create action in your movie using actors, props, etc, and scrub the playbar select an
area that needs refinement. Then, rerecord what you don't like from the chosen
      playhead position.
o You will see yellow highlighted action segments when you tab or reverse tab on the
playbar. The segments in the play bar correspond to the active selected object or
      actor.
o Tab Track Editing helps you to easily jump to a motion editing point, delete old data or
record new motion and do it all from the main play bar.

• Multi-Actor Timeline Editing for Pro users:

o Easily drag and drop actors into the scene for positioning and editing.
o Every actor has its own set of timeline tracks for motion, position, facial animation, hand
      gestures and more.
o Give every actor a voice with the Multi-Actor dialog system, allowing every actor to talk
to each other with automatic lip-synch, facial expressions and individual voice tracks.
o CrazyTalk 5 compatible facial animation perfects facial performances.

• Multi-camera system:

o Add as many cameras to the scene and switch them as you like.
o Animate Depth of Field (DOF) and control focal range adjustment
o Animate the camera Lens MM for Hitchcock Vertigo effect.
o Camera Switcher timeline track for choosing the live camera view from the cameras
      positioned throughout the scene.
o Individual camera tracks in the timeline for each camera within the scene.
o Assign camera Look-At to make cameras auto-follow any actor or prop movement.

• Enhanced Lighting Systems:

o Point-light, Spotlight, and Directional light are all there for you.
o Attach the light to a stick as a flash light, use Spotlights that can follow your actors,
use point light to add atmosphere and enrich the mood.
o Assign light Look-at to auto-follow any actor, prop or scene element.

• Direct 3D Object Manipulation:

o Inside the 3D viewer make multiple object selections and directly click and drag to move,
rotate, scale, copy, and delete.  Its no longer necessary to touch modify panel for
      object positioning.

• Attach and link

o Attach and Link selected objects to a parent object to create a component of linked
objects.  (need to show visual example)
o Detach your linked component and reuse it after you add them to the library.  This
allows any linked component to be desconstructed even after saving.
o Link and unlink the relation during Animation so objects can be attached and released
from other objects in motion.  Example, throwing a ball.  The ball begins linked to the
hand to follow the motion of the hand and then unlinks when thrown into the sky.

• Motion Editing:

o Motion Building System with IK/FK, (Forward Kinematics and Inverse Kinematics).
o Create and edit actor motion in-scene within the 3D preview window.
o Directly pick the target segment of the body (arm, finger, leg, etc..) and pose your
      actor with ease.
o In Director Mode, puppet the actor through the scene and switch to Editor mode to
      modify the animation.
o Motion Layer editing is designed to easily modify and blend motion capture files with
      custom motion and poses.
o Example: Load a motion clip like a walk-cycle and then pose and animate the arm with
the motion layer so the actor can walk and wave combining the motion clip from the
iClone library with your own custom animation.
o All motion editing features of the previous Motion Editor are replaced by the new motion
      builder timeline.

• Material Editing:

o Assign custom Diffuse, Opacity, Reflection, Refraction, Glow, Bump and Specular maps
     to any object.
o Texture map thumbnail preview in the Modify panel
o Save sets of texture combinations as Materials for complete texture archiving
o Change the opacity of any object with a slider bar
o Directly adjust the color of objects with the Color Settings slider bars and Diffuse,
      Specular and Ambient color picker
o Animate textures to create moving water or slideshow

• CrazyTalk5 CTS import:

o CrazyTalk 5 compatibility adds the power of real-time facial puppeteering , and facial
      motion clips.
o Use CT5 to create an unlimited library of facial animation and non-verbal expressions.

• Water:

o An oasis in iClone, beautiful water with refraction, reflection, custom speed, clarity,
color, underwater fog.  Bring a towel!

• Grow your own LivePlants, Grass and Trees:

o Become a virtual green thumb and grow your own in iClone.
o Explore virtual landscaping with a variety of trees and grass from the library
o Paint and Mow your vegetation to design elaborate gardens or natural scenes.
o Control the wind speed to adjust the swaying effects

• G3 Character:

o Meet Trey and Trinity the new iClone 3 G3 actor body styles.
o G3 actors are lower polygon for better performance and higher quality with use of
      texture shaping normal maps

• Scene Manager:

o All assets in your project are listed inside the Scene Manager user interface panel.
o Quick access lets you locate any object without the need to search the scene to find
      your model
o Pick an item and then name or rename it in the scene manager.
o Select an item from the list and press the (F) key to instantly pop the front camera view
      to that object.
o Use the scene manager to hide items so you don't waste 3D rendering power.

• Shader Options:

o Any object can have its own shader type, eg. Pixel Shader (the best), Quick Shader
(the default), wireframe, bonding mesh, or even hidden.

• Content Creation Pipeline:
o Plug-in for Autodesk 3DS Max Character Studio to generate character motions or
      rig custom character models.
o Zbrush Zmapper generates normal maps with the iClone 3 OBJ actor template. Create
actors with wrinkles or better body definition and muscle tone.
