initializing direct 3d error

3d exchange was wrking fine. All of a sudden I get
"initializing direct 3d error" when I try run the program. The last I removed and reinstalled
and it worked fine. Now I just keep getting this error.

Is this a bug or virus?

Hi setroc,

Sorry to hear about your problems.

This kind of error can often happen if you have made changes to your video settings such as altering resolution for a new monitor, changing refresh rates, changing hardware acceleration settings etc. If you have made changes recently that could be the cause.

Also have you run dxdiag.exe and looked at the Display tab. It should tell you if any problems were found. It will also tell you if all the DirectX features are enabled. Instructions on how to run dxdiag.exe can be found at the link below:

It is also advisable to update your graphic drivers to the very latest. You could also try reinstalling DirectX to the latest version to see if that helps.

Did as you suggested and updated the driver. So far 3d exchange works
