I'm about to purchase CrazyTalk standard and I have one last question.
Everything in the trail program works great until I try to import a text script to be read by my character.
When I click on the T in the script screen, I immediately get a failure.
The error says the program has encountered an error it cannot resolve and the program will be closed. The only option at that time is to click 'ok' and let the program close completely.
Help! Is this something to do with the trial version or do I have another kind of problem?
Again, any help will be most greatly appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time.
Tim

| Hi Tim, Sorry to hear about your troubles with the TTS system in Crazytalk 5. If you have Microsoft Vista then you should already have SAPI 5.3 installed. This is the current version of the Speech Application Programming Interface that is needed to use text to speech in Crazytalk. Vista also ships with one voice which is Microsoft Anna. I 'am using Vista too and the TTS works fine for me so the problem must lie elsewhere. Do you have any other text to speech software installed that may be conflicting with Crazytalk? Also have you tried using Vista's Check For Solutions option? This often will flag the cause of problems with its inbuilt software and offer a resolution. You may want to refer to the Reallusion TTS page which gives some information on this system. http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/ct_tts.asp#tts If the problem persists and Vista can not find a resolution then you can contact technical support for further help. Please use the support form linked below. http://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/User/QForm.aspx I hope you can get this resolved soon.

Hi Peter,
Thank you again for all your assistance.
I purchased the standard version of CrazyTalk. The installation and registration went without a hitch.
Unfortunately I still have exactly the same problem I had with the trial version. When I click on script, click on timeline, then click on the 'T' to invoke the text-to-speech feature I get an error saying the program has stopped and will be closed. My only option is to click OK and let the program close completely.
The only speech related program I have in my computer is Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 9. That has worked perfectly for several months. I have to have it because I'm visually impaired and use it for dictation.
I went to the AT&T SAPI5 test page where you can type in text and have it converted to speech. That works perfectly every time.
At this moment the only thing I'm having trouble with is being able to open the text-to-speech feature.
Do you think there could be some kind of conflict with Dragon NaturallySpeaking?
Thank you for all your assistance.
Most sincerely,
Tim

| Hi Tim, I don't know if you are aware but all versions of Microsoft Vista, including Home Basic have one of the most powerful speech recognition systems built in. It's called Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0. I've never used Dragon Naturally Speaking but it is possible there is a conflict somewhere between Crazytalk and the two different speech recognition systems. Try opening the Speech Recognition Properties from the Control Panel. (Control Panel - Classic View - Speech Recognition Options and then select Text To Speech) From here you should be able to switch the recogniton choice between Dragon and Vista's. You can also test the voices you have installed to make sure they are working correctly with each system. It might be worth switching to Vista's internal system and then testing Crazytalk at this point to see if it makes a difference. Give it a try and see how you get on.
