| | 3DXchange 4 has a pipeline with ARGILE but there is no mention of it's big brother/sister QUIDAM. Can QUIDAM be used with 3DXCHANGE? Thank you |

| If you have the right exporters like DAE OR FBX exporters then yes you can get quidam characters into 3dexchange. The DAE file needs to be converted to fbx with Autodesks free converter.

| | Many thanks for that useful advice. I am considering investing in QUIDAM - have you used it? |

| | Yeah its coool .. only problem is though you can get ya characters into Iclone you need to animate them using the motion layer which can be hard work (but fun ) . If you want to use them as standard characters in Iclone then you need to re-rigg them in somthinglike 3dmax using Iclone bones.. Quidam character in Iclone

| I guess once you have a motion, say a walk cycle, you can the use Collect Clip to add it to the library and reuse it.

| | You're not going to be able to use a Quidam character directly in iClone, without purchasing one of their extra plugins for export. The base Quidam package only exports to .obj, which contains no rigging. So you'll need to purchase an export plugin, but then you'd also have to pick one for a 3D app you have (or are going to get) that can export in FBX format, because Quidam doesn't have an FBX exporter. So the pipeline would be Quidam to 3D App of choice to FBX to 3DXChange4 to iClone. BTW, I have Quidam, and it's a nice tool, but be prepared to spend a considerable amount of time learning it as well as "sculpting" your characters. It's very very easy to create simple characters, but if you want something truly unique or detailed, it may take a loooong time to create. |

| The Dae Exporter is probably your best option as the free autodesk dea to fbx converter works well with these files and 3Dexchange also has little problem reading the fbx file (though you would have to re texture them once in 3dexchange , but thats easy) . yesterday I would of said quidam was the best option for getting low poly Original characters into Iclone but Daz has released a number of plugging for Daz Studio that enables you to create low poly characters and export them as FBX file for $104

| | I don't think the DAZ bundle will allow you to create new characters, but instead optimize and export their Daz 3D characters out inot more optimal formats for game engines. I suppose you could use the whole DAZ suite of tools for creating characters, but I think they're mostly for customizing and or modifying DAZ characters, and not so much for creating new ones... |

| True .. But it would give you access to the numerous Poser and Daz characters fairly cheaply compared to quidams effty price....
