Hi, I can understand your very unhappy with the problems you are having but I'm a little surprised you are pouring all your anger at Reallusion. As you have already explained, your problems started after installing SP3 from Microsoft. This is not a problem that was caused by iClone but by a problem that is affecting many people with SP3 and ATI cards many of which may not even own iClone. You also said in your previous post that Reallusion doesn't care. I can assure you that they do care but there is only so much that can be done from this end. If you haven't heard back from support yet I'm sure you will soon. How long ago did you contact them? I can assure you that anything that can be done will be done. I will attempt to follow up on your support request and get things moving for you if at all possible.

| Thanks for that aknzrdude. There seems to be differing opinions as to the cause of this. As you say it looks like AMD has joined the fray and its now a three way battle. Right now if you have a AMD/ATI setup then it may be wise to hold off on SP3 until more information is known.

Peter,
Not ALL of my anger is pointed at Reallusion. But it's IClone that no longer works.
Every other application I have still functions. Blame Microsoft, blame ATi, I do too. But I blame Reallusion too. Cause it's IClone that no longer works.
When I first purchased IClone 7 months ago, I had to buy a new graphics card because the GeForce card I had wouln't work with IClone and there was NO ONE that could help me make it work. I then bought a new DELL Optiplex Quad processor (Intel true blue) with 2 gigs of RAM because IClone was such a dog on my old machine. So it's not like I'm not thousands of dollars into this. All to use IClone. And it's the application that no longer works.
You say Reallusion cares? Can they make their product work on my machine? NO.
It's microsoft's problem. But their OS works. It's ATi's problem, but with the exception of IClone, it delivers to every other application I own. It's NOT Reallusion's problem, right, but it's their product that doesn't function.
"Fix IClone yourself, Mr. Webb, it's not our fault." This is an accurate reflection of the state of things so far. But Reallusion cares, right?

I'm down three days and Ati support has responded. Not with anything close to help, but at least they sent a list of BIOS settings I should toggle (none of which is part of the bios choices I'm offered when I boot up). I'm down three days and Microsoft doesn't even acknowledge there's a problem (why should they, their OS works fine). Three days down and Reallusion's support is waiting for ATi or Microsoft to fix the problem while being as silent as they can be to their customers. Well, except for the Reallusion SPAM in my email about wedding scenes. But Reallusion cares, right?

Aknzrdude,
I'm running true blue Intel. A DELL, quad processor, Optiplex 755 with 2 Gig of ram. An Ati Radeon HD 2600 PRO, which IS an AMD product. But I've backed out of the OS SP3 upgrade, re-installed every little thing I can think of and I still can't get IClone's motion editor to work.
I'm relegated to wiping everything away and starting all over. It's not RL's fault, right? It's Microsoft's and I should be most angry with them. But, it is IClone that no longer works.
Oh, and when I ask a simple question, like how can I re-install just the motion editor, no one responds. Silence. I assume because it can't be done. But it would be nice if someone who actually knew for sure, could acknowledge I asked the question.
I realize I'm on my own here. And that's the thing I'd like to shout from a mountain top to everyone thinking of venturing into this world. YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN! All these people care about is selling you props and accessories. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. I only wish someone had shouted that to me.

The only mountain top I can think of is CNet. Several of my friends have contacts over there, appeared on their YouTube show, maybe they'll be interested in helping me get the word out. Maybe then someone who actually knows how all this fits together can offer some REAL help.

| | Hi JJ, It's not a case of trying to shift blame but as you said iClone was working and after SP3 it stopped, then surely it can't be iClone alone that caused the problem. If on the other hand you had installed an iClone upgrade or patch and the fault occured then of course the cause would be down to Reallusion without argument. When things like this happen its easy to point at the software not working but clearly something in SP3 is causing problems with your setup and this needs to be looked at. As you will see from the forum response this isn't affecting every iClone user. Obviously this doesn't lesson the feelings of frustration you are suffering because of it. Sadly this is going to need some investigation and it will take a little time I'm afraid. The fact that a resolution hasn't been found yet doesn't mean Reallusion doesn't care. Of that I'am sure. Like many companies support is limited at weekends but I have forwarded a request for this to be looked at so hopefully you will hear soon. I really hope you can get these problems resolved.

Peter,
I should have stuck to 2D toons. I'd have a lot more money and a lot less frustration.
The new ati card will be here in a couple of days and I'll try again to make the program work then. But the real solution to this, I'm afraid, is to shelf IClone completely 'til next time I buy a new computer. Maybe Reallusion will publish a "These are the hardware and XP system settings that IClone really works with" that really produces a stable environment, between now and the next 18 months (the time frame of my next computer purchase).
I appreciate your input despite my venting so effusively at your employer. I know you're the one on the spot and I'm sorry it's you that bore the brunt of my rage. When I do ever get back to using IClone, I hope you're still here. Thanks again.

Peter,
Yes - Kelly sent me a note asking for info and recommending I buy an Nvidia card. My reply:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello Kelly,
Attached is the dxdiag text file.
About IClone - reports - Product version 2.5.1018.2
S/N xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xx
Regarding your recommendation that I buy an Nvidia card:
I used to use Nvidia cards exclusively until about 7 months ago when I began using IClone. IClone never worked right with the Nvidia GeForce 6800 GS card I had (Props I would download would have strange planes within them that made them useless) At the time, after much time wasted trying to get IClone and the props to work with the GeForce, it was recommended that I buy ATi. So I did. About two months after that, I bought a new machine 'cause IClone ran so slow on my old machine. And now after only about 4 months of use, IClone stops working AGAIN. This time the recommendation is to buy Nvidia.
Of course, some of my friends are recommending I jump to DAZ or Poser to do my cartoons. At this rate (I'm down a bunch of days now, almost a week) it's beginning to look like my ONLY choice is to find another 3D animation package.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Like I said, I should have just - stuck with 2D toons.

| | Hi JJ, No problem about the venting. I fully understand how you feel. I've been there myself in the past with other software just refusing to work when when everybody else seems to run it fine. Try and hang in there if you can. I know you can't wait forever but maybe your new card will resolve your problems for you. If you can, supply the information to support that they request as this will help them greatly. Although it must be annoying to hear the "switch to Nvidia" advice, iClone does run better with Nvidia cards for most people. I have been using an Nvidia 7950GT for quite a while now and haven't had any problems with iClone at all. Let us know how you get on with the new ATI card once you get it installed. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well for you.
