Looks like my use of IClone has come to an end prematurely. My machine upgraded to XP service pack 3 and now the motion editor throws the blue screen of death every time it's started. Even after, upgrading drivers, re-installing direct x 9.0c and trying to use it on only the default project with nothing else loaded into memory.
Windows XP, SP3, ATi's radeon HD 2600 PRO, and the iclone motion editor combine to throw the blue screen of death because of ati3daug.dll stopping, address BF275B05 at BF185000, datestamp 48286321.
I've searched around the net and find that gamers are getting this same error. No one seems to know what to do about it. What it does do is stops me in my tracks with IClone. $200 for seven months use of a tool just seems so wrong to me. I feel cheated. I haven't figured out just who yet, but MicroSoft, AMD and Reallusion are the contenders. Does anyone at Reallusion know how to correct this fiasco? Has anyone else noted the burn?

lots of reports of this on the web - issues mainly with AMD processors and most of the incidents on HP machines

| As this seems a fairly widespread error with SP3 and ATI graphics chips it looks to be a problem out of Reallusion's hands right now. It is certainly something that needs to be looked at quickly but in the end it may require Microsoft to issue a fix through Windows Update. (or ATI to issue new drivers) You could try sending a support request using the support form to see if anything is known about a fix for the problem. Click below to access the form. http://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/User/QForm.aspx I really hope this gets sorted out soon.

I've spent the last month suffering with the blue screen of death - finally got a new drive (threw away that ATI card) - slowly rebuilding and hoping I've overcome at last (internet's back at least - again) - I also thought I was doing a good thing by downloading the lasted service pack (3) - I hope I dodge that bullet by taking the ATI card out of the mix- at least we aren't alone with the blue screen of death.

So, now I've tried just about everything but the thing that'll make it actually work. I restored XP SP2, I reinstalled .NET framework 2.0 SP1 and 3.0, reinstalled the ATi Drivers, reinstalled Iclone, installed a thing called Driver Detective, a .net cleanup utility, etc., etc. I've gotten a support 'ticket' at ATi, told microsoft half a dozen times, posted on this forum and other forums about the problem and have .. come up completely - ZILCH!
No one knows and no one cares. So ends IClone, not with a bang but a whimper, and a blue screen and lots of not caring from the vendors who already have my money.
So now, I've just purchased a new Sapphire Radeon 3850, 1 Gig, card. It'll take five days to arrive. Who knows if it'll work any better, or come with different drivers, or if those drivers will work. No motion editor, means no toons in IClone. And since that SP3 update, I can't make IClone's motion editor work - and short of blowing away my WHOLE system and coming up from scratch (something that's too monumental a task to contemplate at the moment) I can't think of any more to do), I do know that the money I'd budgeted for an IClone 3.0 upgrade just got spent on something else, a graphics card. I know I'm real tired of all the manufacturers silence, bewilderment and blame passing. That's Microsoft, ATi AND Reallusion. Thanks guys, I hope one day I can repay the favor.
I know I just downloaded Daz 2.2 with Lip-sync. I suspect no one at RL cares one way or the other.

It's a rich man's tool, IClone and the systems and high end graphics needed to make it work. Normal people should NOT venture in .. they're mere sheep to be shorn by the 'corporate' money-grubbers who talk a decent game, but leave you high and dry when there's problems and only know how to spam email their 'BUY OUR CONTENT' sales pitches with any competence.
(I guess I start by send out to the first 300 names on my mail list, right? Corporate Software Strikes Again! Hoooooray! ... sigh)

Is that a typo you made? "I reinstalled.....NET framework...and 3.0"
If you re-installed the NET Framework 3.0 again, you just put it back to where your problem originated.

Thanks Cricky.
I uninstalled .NET 3.0, still didn't work. I uninstalled .NET 2.0 SP1. Presto, it now works! No .NET framework at all? Hmmm, what have I lost as far as my other programs. What is .NET for, (I thought it was for graphics ..) and why did XP SP3 screw my system's .NET setup so completely? Cause it did work before the XP SP3 installation.
What is IClone's relationship to the .NET framework? Apparently the motion editor will run without it and won't run with it. Does anyone have any answers .. I mean, that'll explain WHAT and WHY I just went through this GIGANTIC frustration? Magic! Is not an acceptable answer, for me anyway, but I haven't met anyone the last two days who seems to know what the [bleep] happened. Will my not having any .NET Framework come to bite me in the near future?
Confused in Calilfornia,

No, I spoke too soon. a minute into the editing session the same blue screen arrives. Re installed, .NET 2.0 SP1. Nope, still doesn't work. So, the motion editor no longer works on my machine. No configuration has worked for the last couple of days. I can only think that, coincident with the SP3 upgrade, something fried my ATi 2600 card ever so slightly, and IClone, being super sensitive to whatever that fry is (a memory location maybe), can't and won't abide it. I wonder why none of my other programs have gone south. When the new card arrives I'll go through this crap one last time in hopes that IClone is a real program and not an unstable experiment.
It'll be nice when IClone becomes a viable product. But it isn't right now. I wonder if CNet knows?
