I'm considering upgrading to 5, but this is for a low budget indie... Does CT5 have improvements in facetrix - can someone post a version comparing something made with CT4 to its component in CT5?

I tried the demo/beta several months ago, but found that CT5's puppeteering seems to be buggy. http://youtube.com/watch?v=aJpsqlx8jNQ

Hi,

There have been huge improvements in all areas of Crazytalk 5.0's facial animation when compared to v4.6. You can now get a level of expression that was impossible in CT4. Have you had a look at the Crazytalk 5 information pages. They show all the new features that have been added along with links to video examples. Take a look from the link below.

I'm not sure what you mean by "buggy" when describing the Puppeteering feature of CT5. I have not encountered any bugs during puppeteering at all. It does take a little time to get the most out of so possibly problems during the learning process were seen as bugs.

You gave a link to a YouTube video where the character had one eye closed throughout. Was this what you meant by bug? I would say that this was certainly not a bug but more likely down to an expression key being set with the eye closed but not set to open again.

As I say it does require a little time to learn puppeteering but once you have, the results can be amazingly realistic and an almost unlimited amount of detail added to the facial expression. If you are looking for improvements in facial animation then Crazytak 5 is certainly an upgrade you need.

Yes, I looked through the link you gave me before posting.. I notice the new features are mostly productivity features - like different output formats, and also the neat puppeteering tool. But, it doesn't make a specific mention of automatic voice to expression conversion in 4.6 vs 5.

I am wondering if there is a comparison video for something similar/same made in the two different versions?

Incidentally here is a comparison of the same model and voice file in 4.6 vs 5.1 (demo) http://blip.tv/file/985461
