I have been part of an ongoing project for the past two years about a character named Pinhead.  Pinhead started as a 2D character and was animated using various methods such as Heroglyph (tiff sequence images), Bluff Titler (png image sequence) or merely keyframed on an overlay track with various expressions drawn on his face etc.  With my discovery of Iclone last year, he has evolved into an Iclone 3D character.  We ran a project for our 2D editors, for which Reallusion have graciously supplied us with some prizes of Iclone Studio and the winners will be decided by a panel of judges.  However, we do have an on-line vote, and we invite any of you who are prepared to watch all the videos (it's a time commitment) to cast your votes for your favorites.  The vote will decide the winners of the "Golden Pinhead Awards", which is simply a "title" and past winners are listed on the website in the Hall of Fame.  The idea of the project was to continue the story which was created in Iclone and is running on the "Project 3" page.  The vote will be up til Saturday May 24 and we will be posting an awards ceremony on Saturday May 31 to announce the winners.

The votes can be placed on the GPA's tab. (stands for Golden Pinhead Award)

I need to make a correction to the credits. I mistakenly credited Rainman for the creation of the Red Carpet animation in Iclone in the Awards show. This was actually created by "Warlord". I apologize for the error and thank Warlord for this amazing Red Carpet animation which is available at www.CoolCreators.org

Really nice project you have here and a well put together awards ceremony.

Just one question, have you considered having a section for movies/films that are not part of your project? Some of the finest iClone movies made didn't feature in this ceremony and it might be fitting to include them next time.

If not, maybe an award show done with Reallusion might be worth thinking about? Considering your experiance in this area. I know from my past experiences on other forums that the software company has got involved, and there have been some brilliant award ceremonies.

Just a thought.

Just for information.

The "Pinhead" project started about 3 years ago on the Pinnacle Studio forum, it was put together by a few Studio users to allow others to use, improve and show their skills. At the time most of the prizes were sponsored by Pinnacle.

The contest posting area was later moved to the VFF forum for several reasons, not least of which is the fact that there are many NLE software packets whose users couldn't really talk about their product on a "product owned forum".

Alley was very successful in getting other companies to sponsor prizes - Reallusion, Pinnacle, Corel and ProDad among others. We couldn't use any of these forums for constant posting about the contest - although Pinnacle were kind enough to let us keep a fairly active thread on their forum.

The contest isn't about using any product, or mixture of products, to put a clip together. It is all about creating a clip based around one central figure - Pinhead, and while there are really great iClone clips out there, they ain't about Pinhead - so someone else will have to open a contest for them.

Those of us involved in putting the Pinhead project together don't work for, or represent, any of the companies that provided prizes. I live in Germany, Alley in Canada and Joe, Brian and Paul live in various parts of the USA, we all "met" on the Studio forum as users of the software.

We won't be including any movies/clips in any future project that don't have anything to do with the subject of Pinhead.

If you want/need a contest for something like you suggest then my best advice is to get together with a few "like thinkers" and go for it.

We did - and it works, just be prepared to give up a lot of your free time to ensure that it goes the way you want.
