I recently purchased a 5 license pack of Crazytalk 5 to try out at my school. While trying to learn this program, I was consistently connected to with what should have been very helpful tutorial videos. However, each tutorial I was brought to said "open Crazytalk5" and then .... My software did not have many of the buttons or features I was being led to. After many wasted hours and time spent online, I realize that I was being taken to tutorials for Crazytalk 5 Pro--althought not stated as such. I would like to be able to access help for my version: Crazytalk5 EDU only. Even the enclosed brochure that came with the program shows me a voice, lips face/facestrength etc. track screen. All I get are Voice and Motion clip tracks--and the motion clip track is barely visible at the bottom of the screen.

Help.

Hi,

I'am not an expert on the educational side of things at Reallusion but as far as I was aware the edu software is the same as detailed on the general product page. That is to say two versions are available, Crazytalk 5 (standard) and Crazytalk 5 Pro.

The feature matrix link below shows the difference between the two products. Yours appears to be the standard Crazytalk 5 version.

While the Pro version does have extra features on the timeline all available lines should be visible to you and not obscured in any way. Have you tried making Crazytalk 5 full screen rather than as a window to ensure everything is visible onscreen?

Your point about the tutorials being aimed at Pro users is a fair point. Although the basics are the same for both versions, it will be confusing to see features talked about that you don't have. It would certainly be beneficial to have a tutorial that covers just the CT5 standard only features. I will put this idea forward for review by the appropriate team at RL.

Below is a link to the educational contact page should you need further assistance direct from them.

Please come back here if you still have problems and can't get them resolved.

Pete

Hi

I have Crazytalk 5.1 and have exactly the same problems as ‘Newbie’. The tutorials were very confusing until I realised they were for Pro version.

Also my track screen only show the audio track and a glimpse of the Motion Clip track at the bottom whether in Full Screen or Window mode?

Do you have any advise?

Thanks a lot.

Neil

Hi Neil,

The standard edition of Crazytalk 5 only has two tracks on the timeline. One is a large Voice track and the other is a smaller Motion Clip track. What you see is normal in CT5. To get the advanced timeline requires upgrading to the Pro version.

I too have just purchased crazytalk 5 and it seems we were conned into something that does not exist. I want to alter the speech pattern to better suit my animation and find that my version also does not support this function. The help videos do not offer any help at all for us conned users. Overall so far a very poor product as far as I am concerned. I purchased it with good intentions and not find it is basically not up to the task.
Money wasted and not happy.

Hi,

On the Crazytalk page a feature matrix is provided to show the major differences between the two versions.

http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/ct_matrix.asp

There is still much that can be done with the standard version of Crazytalk but should you want to upgrade to the Pro version you can do so at a very good discount price, so you are not really losing any money. Just login to your Premium Members page to get the discount.

Hey, thank for the offer of an upgrade, wow, only twice the price I have already paid for a toy.
Overall a cost of around $150.00. An extra $100.00 for something I should already have.

I will be working hard to get around that.

They reckon there is a sucker born every minute. Your product proves that each and every day.

Education of students is costly enough without being ripped off by poor quality software.

Hi,

Did you look at the feature matrix before making your purchase?

If not then I'm really sorry you feel misled. It always best to do a little research before purchasing to make sure you are getting the product you need. All that can be done is to put the information out there to explain the differences.

I think you will find if you give it a go that the standard version is still very powerful and although lacking the advanced timeline still has puppeteering and many great features that can make some really cool facial animated videos.

I'm not saying you should buy the Pro version, just explaining that the discount is there if you want to at some point because you may not have realized it.
