hello forum. allthough I am tinkering with iClone for a while now I still may not know very much about it. for example - I read from someone that he set up a motion in the motion editor. he talked about editing like taking one of the standard motions and then movng one hand into the air for a wave-like motion.... but, how could he have done that? for me the iClone motion editor appears as nothing more than a motion mixer. take one, cut ist to some length, take another and place it after the other, choose transition time and live with that, or don't. features like aligning (where I still have not figured out if there is a visual difference between align and 'align whole motion') are the special treat.

now, is it actually a motion mixer or is there really the posibility in iClone to take the puppet's limbs like a hand, a foot and move it to some place on some frame?!

another question is this one: is there a way someone knows of, to freeze some bodyparts where aligning to that limb is not enough? it still moves to much. for example the feet. the person stand still, but with prebuilt motions there is always motion of the feet and mixing between motions makes the person slide on the ground like on a frozen lake in Winter. wichever foot I align the other slides and the first doesn't stand still either.

I would appreciate any kind of hint, or help!
and thanks for reading.

d~

WOW I've learned something new today!
always was this "edit" button grey, unusable, but now I found out, that it was that it wont work with animations alltogether, am I right? just poses can be edited.

there opens a whole new world of posibilities. well I blame the weak interface design but it's me to blame I didn't find out earlier. well I payed for it with hours and days of finding other ways round.

regards, d~

Hi,

Now that you have found the Edit button you are half way there.

When you open an existing motion in the editor you have many options available so you can edit it to your requirements. You can insert the current pose at any point to begin editing and chain together keyposes to make full animations.

To get the most from the Motion Editor check out the link below which details the many features and also take a look at the Getting Started section of the help guide from within the motion editor. This will tell you everything you need to know.
