| Hi All. On my travels around the various I-Clone sites and blogs, I have come across people who have converted poser props etc. for use in I-Clone. Please can you tell me how this is done? I know 3d Exchange can't do it, so do I need a different program as well? Or is there a simple way?
Thanks. Rich.

| HI Peter, - How are you? Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I don't have the actual Poser software, I was just shamlessly stealing props from the Renderosity site! I've not found a free Poser trial, but I've seen that Daz is free, so I was going to install it, but this is a story... I now have my new machine - all singing and dancing with 4 GB of memory and a 1 GB graphics card and a quad core - and I can actually see I-Clone working on screen without skipping huge motion sections - which is great! Unfortunately, my jinx has kicked in again, and this super machine is too clever to talk to my modem and is making my broadband connection run at the speed of dial-up, so downloading something like the Free Daz installer is going to take 25 hours and it keeps timing out. This means that I am can't look at the program until I get shifted across to a direct ethernet connection, which is bound to become another saga.... Anyway, is it possible to convert Poser pp2 files into Daz and then export into 3D Exchange that way? Or do you know if there is such a thing as a free trial for Poser? Would Poser be used enough to warrant a purchase of the full package for hobby film making, or would it end up being just an extension of 3D Exchange? Any advice will, as always, be much appreciated. Thanks, Rich

| And just as an afterthought - can motions be converted too?

| Hi Rich, Good to hear from you again. I'm doing good. Thanks for asking. It's great to hear you have your new comp up and running. Sounds like quite an impressive setup you have now. I hope you get your internet connection sorted out soon though. That must be a real pain reverting back to dial up speed. When it comes to Poser or Daz I would say try Daz Studio first, mainly because it is free but also because Poser 7 can be a bit daunting for new users and also personally I find it a bit clunky. I preferred Poser 4 Pro overall and still use it from time to time. Poser 7 also needs some serious PC power to get the best out of it but it sounds like you have that now so that shouldn't be aproblem. If you do fancy trying Poser 7 there is a demo here: http://downloads.e-frontier.com/us/user/poser_7_english_demo_product_33041 Really though if you mainly plan on exporting props and stuff for iClone I (which is what I do now) I would simply use Daz Studio. You can export virtually anything to 3DXchange and this can be a great resource of new props and accessories. With regards to motions, Poser 7 can export motions in the BVH format that could be opened in the BVH Converter. I haven't tried this for a while but I think pretty good results can be got this way overall. Pete
