| I have just started using the free version of Google Sketch Up 6 and want to change the textures on the sails of some boats and ships that I have downloaded from 3D Warehouse. I would like to know how to "drill down" to the very lowest "Face" level for the sails so that when I use the Paint Bucket to apply my own material I can context click to access the options that allow you to precisely *re-position* a custom graphic using pins. So far, I think I must have been placing my pictures on the wrong level - possibly "Surface" level rather than "Face" level because I can't access the Position Texture Tool. My images have words on them and I need that text to be legible..... I hope someone can help. Do I NEED to use Sketch Up to change textures or can it be done in 3DXChange instead ?

| Hi Thanks for replying. Yep.... I do seem to be STUCK. I *think* I've done as much right-clicking and "Exploding" as I can. Eventually, the option isn't there. It's the same for the Texture Position Tool. I right-click and it isn't listed. I'm working with one of the Galleons from 3D Warehouse. The really frustrating thing is that I can Paint a Material onto a sail but then not move it. I have tried adapting images with the writing on externally so that the originals will be of a sensible dimension but I think Sketch Up converts anything that you open as a "Material" to a square tile, thus distorting any other shape. Is there any OVER-RIDING switch to 100% Explode the Model at the start - or something that can show me a list of ALL the elements so I can find out if it's possible to get to the FACE for each SAIL ? The level I've got to says "17 Entities" in the Entity Info Panel.

| Apparently the sail I am looking at on the Galleon Model is a CURVED Face. Does that mean you're not SUPPOSED to be able to adjust the position of graphics on it ?

| It looked like it IS the CURVED Face that's causing my problem ---> http://download.sketchup.com/OnlineDoc/gsu_mac/D-Modification_Tools/modtool-PositionTexture.htm BUT.... following the View --> Hidden Geometry ---> Edit Individual Faces *IS* helpful. I can access the individual strips and re-position anything I like within those segments, it'll take some improvisation but maybe the consequent results will be more interesting than anything I'd've come up with a more direct solution. Phew ! Just HAPPY to be movin' 'n' makin' progress again....Oooo ! A Blockhead with a Blockage is a curse worse than a Head Bear with a sore Saw sore. Onward !!
