This is such a basic question that I can't find the answer anywhere. I wan to do a really quick talking head so I have important a sound file and used a cartoon I drew. Before I press play all the movement is excellent- head moves, eyes blink etc.. But when I press play for the speech only the lips move and everything else stops. Is there a way of making the rest automatic like the lips.

Cheers

Hi,

You have a few ways of doing this.

You could simply add an emotive to your character and this would give basic head movement. You can find emotives under Script.

You could also simply add one of the stock Motion Clips to the timeline, then extend it to the length of the voice track and this will give complete motion data to your character. Just adjust the intensity slider to get the desired movement.

Probably the best way would be create the movement is Puppeteering. This method enables total control of movement. It isn't difficult to use and gives really great results.

With all methods, once you have a good general movement motion file you can add it to custom and use it on any other character you wish.

I hope this helps.

Pete

Hi,

I aggree with this message.
The Emotives are too excessive or too smooth.

We need a natural eyes and head movement.

Neutral : no mouvements
Cute: eyes never close
Calm : the better but not so natural and the eye not really close.

Can you add a new "Emotive" called natural for example with the same default eyes and head mouvement but with the mouth animation ?

Thanks,

Hi,

A "Natural" emotive would be useful for scenes where no explicit facial animation is required I agree.

When it comes to finding emotives too excessive, you can overcome this easily by adjusting the Intensity Slider. At its lowest, the movement can be very subtle and if this is saved you have in effect created your own Natural Emotive ready for use in other projects.
