| I just purchased CrazyTalk 5 and Iclone 2. I have updated Iclone 2 to the latest version 2.5. Both were installed properly as indicated without any modificaitons from the standard installation procedures. Both programs work independently with no problems. I want to use a script that I created in CrazyTalk 5 within Iclone 2.5 but it won't work. Here are the symptoms of my problem.... 1) When I try to launch CrazyTalk from within Iclone, it says "Please purchase Reallusion CrazyTalk 4.6". 2) When I try to import a Crazytalk script, then navigate to the script I want, and finally click on that script, it says "Failed to load CTS file" even though I am trying to load a perfectly functional CrazyTalk CTS 5 file. 3) The CrazyTalk 5 script files do not appear in the Iclone 2.5 Custom script list. If I manually copy and past the CrazyTalk 5 script into the CrazyTalk 4 shared script directory, then the script DOES appear in the Iclone 2.5 Custom script list but when I try to apply to my animated model, it it fails to apply the script. According to a very recent forum message I should be able to apply CrazyTalk scripts within Iclone, but I can't get it to work. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, huertaaj

I heard that 5.0 was NOT compatible with current iClone version, it is expected to be compatible with the new iClone 3 (no release date, not much info on that). So, you will have to use 4.6.

| That's unfortunate. I just purchased version 5 which means that I don't have version 4.6 available to me. It would be nice if the programmers at Reallusion could make a patch available that would allow version 5 users to save Scripts as version 4.6. I'm disappointed since I really wanted to make some short videos of me having a conversation with Charles Darwin for my biology class for this next week. I guess I'll have to wait for version 3.0 of iclone, too bad. Thanks for the response, huertaaj

| Hi, As Beruply has already stated Crazytalk 5 will not be compatible with iClone until iClone 3.0 is released. In the meantime you can happily run Crazytalk 4.6 (If you have it) alongside Crazytalk 5 without any problems and have the best of both worlds. I think it is safe to say that there were just to many new features and changes to the script system of CT5 to work this into iClone 2.5. Although no official release date has been given for iClone 3.0 I think we can expect to see it released sometime in the second quarter of 2008.

I think you folks should have let the public know about this. I wouldn't have purchased the package until the update. Unfortunately, I was dumb enough to spend 5 hours in crazy talk to finally realize that something wasn't right. Well, I came to this board and this particular post and found myself a $323 surprise. When will Iclone 3.0 be coming out? Will I have to pay for that as well? I don't think that would be fair, or at least have a separate patch for 2.5. Also, are there any compatibility problems with Iclone 3Dx-exchange and Iclone 2.5?
Please respond
Mr. Surprised,

I'll save Edward a post I hope.
Iclone 2.5 and 3dXChange are compatible...no issues between the two.
In reference to the compatibility between the CrazyTalk5 and iClone 2.5; there is an asterisk noting that it will not be compatible with iClone 2.5 in the matrix description of it's abilities at this link, but is planned for the 3.0 version of iClone:
http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/ct_matrix.asp
Located under the heading:"Precision editing tools for fine-tuning talking animation" Quoted here to save you time in looking "
"*Note: CrazyTalk 5 will be compatible with future release of iClone 3.0"

Cricky,
Thanks for responding for Peter. Unfortunately like me, it seems other folks haven't read every bit of info on these pages. Also, I was asking Peter about a patch-free upgrade for all the people that don't have reading skills like you. I was hoping Peter could help us non-readers out, unless you can answer that as well?
Peter - what are Reallusions plans for helping out the Crazy Talk 5.0 consumers? I really feel like we got the shaft and it appears the person several post up may have been confused as well . I don't understand how a company makes products that integrate well with each other and then manufactures the next gen of products that will not. Why would an automobile company manufacture a car without AC,wheels, or any of the options the consumer comes to "expect".
This is where I've found myself livid to a degree about the whole thing. As as consumer, you'd expect more from a company. I don't believe Reallusion promoted the disclosure of this information nearly as well as it should have. I also believe that the consumer should be given some leeway or compensation with regards to either a patch or a trade-in for the newest version.
Sincerely,
Adiberto

| Hi Adiberto, As Cricky has already mentioned the incompatibility between iClone 2.5 and Crazytalk 5 is listed on the feature matrix plus it is also mentioned in the FAQ and many times on the forum. But as you rightly say it is possible to miss those areas when making a purchase and I'm sorry that you feel let down by this issue. Sadly the major new features in Crazytalk 5 made it impossible to keep that compatibility in iClone 2.5 and for this reason I don't believe a patch for 2.5 will be issued. Both iClone and Crazytalk are stand alone products that do not need each other to work but offer a shared script system that is beneficial for those that own both products. Many people use Crazytalk 5 without iClone and vice versa so obviously the new release of CT5 could not be held back because of the differences in the script system. All that could be done was to point out the incompatibility so that customers were aware. The problem will be resolved with the release of iClone 3.0. I do appreciate how annoyed you are feeling having not seen the incompatibility problems stated on the website so please accept my apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you.
