Hello,

Just getting used to the new timeline (for me anyway). My avatar's animation brings him under the floor plane, making for funky shadows.

Anyone know how I can i) move the floor plane down, or ii) move the avatar up a bit

Thanks!

Hello Hathead,
welcome to the world of iclone, what you are describing is very common, sometimes the motion capture sessions will make your character go through the floor. So here are a few thing you can do:

1) select the character
2) press the "t" key. This will take you to the transform section of the modify panel.
3) make sure you are on frame 1 and move you character on the Z axis panel 2 to 4 units up.
Please note that you might have to keyframe this over time because sometimes the motion might look like it is floating. Again this is just the nature of motion capture. So if at frame 40 it looks like your character is floating a little bit you can move it back down a couple of units to compensate.

Now, as far as the shadow goes. The funkyness of the shadow is created by the shadow type which is "drop shadows", try switching it to "selfcast shadows" it will give you much better results.

As for the question the floor or the character? Character is best because most props are align to the floor, so if you move the floor down then you will have to readjust all the props you load into your scene.

Hope this helped you a bit,
