Apophysis is a piece of software that renders amazing Fractal images. Not tricky to learn at all, and basically comes with a thousands preset math mixes.

http://www.apophysis.org/

I have used this extensively especially for wonderful textures. It also renders the output as a layer, only allowing the workload to sit on  the useable layer else you can chose your own Backdrop.

It works with FLAME files. Many will be familiar with these but from my understanding the maths of a flame files coupled with a root algorythm!!! works together to create a kind of controllable Fractal output that defies description.

If you think this is one of those Paisley forever zooming in fractal things, well, think again. You CAN infinitely zoom in on the fractal output part but not to produce the old fashioned image we all recall.

Have a go. If youre really pushed Ill do a very quick Vid Tute on it because it IS easy and is IS exceptional.  Here's some I created last year but it only touches the tip of the iceberg.

Here are some of my works from last year. (Amazing what you find when youre weeding backup drives.)

And so it goes on. I hope they inspire but the software is a definite if you're looking for something diverse and that no one else will have. Armstrong.

hi, Armstrong..I've been using Apophysis for over a year,,,have stockpiled hundreds (maybe thousands?) of fractal images that I'll be sorting thru for use in my iClone vids n images....may sound odd, but it seems like some of the sequel fractal images that I've created seem to tell a story of their own ...,..but it's a great program that I really enjoy playing around in.

I created this next image with a photoshopped pic of a ship combined with one of my fractal pics.

..... and these as well.

Actually Im looking for some software I discussed with its creator three years ago in iClones early years.... it was similar to this... in that it rendered 3D fractals but... and this was amazing, it rendered them in a 3D "solid" form.
And speaking to the guy he was already outputting for things lkke Poser and veu? but he said he was currently (back then) working on a universal output!!!!!! that would be more suited to iClone for import.

The software I cannot relocate and the name has escaped me. Does anyone recall this. I dont think the current iClone forum archives go back that far. But I cannot find this software. If I do Ill post it because its another small weapon for the arsenal.

It would have been good to see if he'd created and updated the software to cater for better export / import.
Armstrong.

Some more trinkets I just found.

Mystica is the only software that I can think of like that right now.....

http://www.dawntec.com/mystica/

it's a 3D Engine that renders fractals in 3D. (and has a walk/fly-thru section to explore the 3d fractals in.

WOW factor time. Duchess, I would say UltraFractal has some definite tex ability for iClone.

Its output is way more diverse. I learn something today!

THAT kind of output is very useable to me.

Mary, yes Mystica is intrigueing but I think you'll agree its been left behind a little now. But interesting to see the persistent ones who kept going and evolved never the less.

yes, sadly, Mystica is rather out-dated...maybe they'll update it in the future. you asked if I'd seen the new flames..did Apophysis update their flame editer ?

Not sure they're things I'd use but I've always liked this kind of artwork and it was a treat for my eyes as I was scanning through things here.

Thanks
