| | Hi, First of all I would like to admit that I am very pleased with the features of iClone 4 and it exceeds my expectations in most respects. The ability to import videos is a feature that will help iClone users tremendously. However, the default folder of the videos being in the Shared folder in C drive, it is going to affect computer performance of people who try to use this feature to good effect. I store all my videos in external hard drive. I also have most programs except the essential ones installed in my external hard drive including all graphics, video, gaming , and 3d software. This essentially keeps my C drive from being jammed and my pc functioning. Anybody who handles computers knows this. Videos usually have big files, and as I tested out Iclone 4, its abilities to take big video clips is good enough. Given the powers of IClone4, it would help if the videos folder could be in an external runtime, rather than being by default in drive C. Would like Reallusion feedback and help on this issue, if forum friends cannot show the way. Regards Surajit

| I keep all my videos on an external, and iClone finds them without a problem. You just need to be able to tell the program the source. iClone remembers when it opens the project again, or gives you an error if you've moved the original source or deleted it.

| | Hi Cricky, I am sure I am missing something. I am not talking about exporting videos, but using the videos from within the "videos" tab in iClone4. I couldn't find any import option that would help me to show the software the path to import the videos. So the default video folder stays in C drive, at least for Reallusion and for me unless I can learn how to "tell the software" from where to import the videos and teach it to open other folders than the defaut when I click the "videos" tab under "sets" in iClone 4. Would you kindly share the knowledge? It would be helpful to me and maybe to others too.

| surajit you can use windows explorer to navigate to the video folder and just drag and drop your videos into the workspace or prop of choice

| | Hi aknzrdude, Thanks for the response. That's what I tried in the beginning. Tried to drag and drop videos by using windows explorer. It is not working on my pc. Is it working on yours? If you can drag and drop videos by windows explorer int iClone4, at least it would tell me that I have to see what is wrong at my end and try to fix it. And if you can't then the problem might be generic or a bug. Better to fix the software or my pc before the content library builds up. By the way, when I am placing videos in the default folder, up till now, I have been able to use avi, wmv, mpeg in addition to pop. I would be trying with other formats today, to see how many formats the software can tolerate in video input. This sure cuts down heavy duty work. Would like to find an answer to my problem. And aknzrdude, you are taking over my video site man. Any good animation or serious animation with iClone, and there's no way I can avoid you. I have really grown to be a fan of yours. Brilliant. Regards Surajit

Regards Surajit Hi Surajit, The problem with dragging and dropping occurs for those using Windows Vista and Windows 7 because of UAC (User Account Control). There is an explanation about this in the FAQ. Take a look at the link below for more details. FAQ If you wish to change the location of the shared video folder which defaults on installation to the c: drive, you can make the changes in the system registry to alter this. The registry location is in Vista: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - Reallusion - Shared Data - Template Data You will have to move the current shared folders from the C: drive to whatever location you use, and remember this will then be the new location for all shared data, not just videos. If you are not sure how to use the Registry Editor I would leave well alone. Deleting or changing data in the registry can leave your software inoperable or in a worse case scenario your OS unusable.
