Siouxie Sioux,

Thanks for your comments! My public pages are quite homely, but they have brought me as many online students as I can handle at the moment (about 300 max). Hopefully, before the end of the year, I'll be updating the design to more accurately reflect that found in the members area. It's still 'easy on the eyes', but better organized, and my students like it.

Your Piano mechanism is MARVELOUS, and I'm sure it took a LOT of WORK! If you're offering it, I would LOVE it...and I'll be more than happy to give you credit with a link to your services. My current members hail from 93 countries, but I expect we can find some closer to your neck of the woods, too!

You tell me what I need to do, and I'm ready anytime you are!

I SINCERELY appreciate the offer, and KNOW all my piano visitors will find it to be VERY interesting to play with! In fact, it's OUTSTANDING work, IMHO!

Mike

I just uploaded some CT stuff to it and indeed the site supports the files. The models work because I can see the pictures. And the scripts work because I can hear the voices. However, the mouths do not move with the words. Strange because the resting motions work. What would cause that condition?

Hi Norm, this might be because there are two CrazyTalk players on the same page both having the same id and name. Try to reduce it to one player per page or set another object id and name for the second one.

The voices I have found to be the best are here:

http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php and use either the Mike or Crystal voice.  You can type your speech into Notepad and then copy and paste it in to the window.

You can then click DOWNLOAD and obtain a wav file for CT.  Voices sound pretty good.

RKD,

Thanks for the advice.

I renamed the Object ID, Browser type NAME and two variables of one of the two scripts.  Are those what you had in mind?  It didn't help things... it seems to crash IE at times.  Perhaps I shouldn't have changed everything I did.

My objective here is to create a CT graphic that shows the two characters speaking to each other.  Perhaps iClone2 would be better, not sure.  But in iClone, it appears I would have to build bodies to attach to the heads.  Not sure whatelse..

thanks again RKD,

Norm

Norm, I tried to manually download the CTM and CTS files to take a look at. It seems the fritz1 files could not be found at all as I get forwarded to runhosting.com/articles/ instead. (Just noticed you changed the page while I'm typing this, found the fritz2 files). The other files were present and I could download but not open them. CrazyTalk prompted they were corrupt. How did you upload them? Make sure to upload them in binary mode in your FTP program.

Thanks for your work RKD.

I did re-upload the files, but the same condition on that host (free host) seems to exist.  However, the same files with the same upload process works on the site I had listed previously....  that would get us back to my original question of why they start automatically sometimes but not others.  But that is OK.  If they do not start, you just click the arrow.

And the only reason I obtained an account on the free host was because it supports scripting which isn't necessary or related to CT.

Working a little with iClone2 trial recently.  It is certainly a lot more involved than CT.  However, it seems iClone2 projects wouldn't be embedded in HTML like CT is.  It seems it has more value to the game author, cartoonist, graphic artist, story teller, etc as opposed to the casual webpage tinkerer.

Thanks again for your continued support and advice RKD.

I've found that Crazytalk 4.6 forget 'Sometimes' to put the LifeMode="1" and 'PARAM Name="LifeMode" Value="1"' in the file. I was having the same problems in this tread and was close to pulling out my little bit of hair, until I discovered this. Now things are working fairly well on my development server at http://taylorbbs.homelinux.net/chatbot/Eliza/Eliza_Babe.html.

To avoid having my visitors go through the install process, I will be experimentiing with converting to flash, but I think I would lose the interaction I want from this product.

Happy trails all...........
