can iclone 3 be installed on 2 computers as long as you dont use them at the same time

Yes it will count as one of your 5 installs. That is why it is very important to uninstall while connected to the internet if you change or upgrade your computers. This way you will get the install credited back to you.

because what if you purchase the upgrade and didnt realize you were out of installs as i have had some computer hard drive failures over time etc.. I take it you could go to install the upgraded iclone 4 and it wouldnt install as you might have exceeded your max installs ?

When it comes to your install count, iClone3 and iClone4 are treated separately. Nothing carries over so if you upgrade to iClone4 you will start with 5 installs for IC4 regardless of what you had remaining with IC3.

I have been reading all the discussion about install counts here and it just dawned on me to ask, Where do i look to see how many installs i have left for each product ?

The install count is shown at the end of the installation process for iClone or Crazytalk. It will tell you the total allowed and your current number of installs.
