| I posted in another forum about this a few days ago. No answers, so maybe sb over here has some ideas. My company is looking for new applications for producing interactive language learning materials. CrazyTalk looks interesting (and iClone as well). The problem I see so far for Reallusion products is that unicode is not well supported. Maybe I'm missing sth, but with my regular applications I can copy and paste Chinese (or whatever) characters directly without worrying about missing fonts, strange symbols or anything else that gets in the way of production. So far, I have not been able to take a speech bubble and successfully enter Chinese into it with CrazyTalk. Without that function, it would be a waste of time for my company to invest time and money in CrazyTalk or other Reallusion products. The most frustrating part, however, is that so far I have been unable to get any feedback on this issue.
I would also expect that for the purposes of marketing globally, it would make sense for applications to be localized to other linguistic contexts. Anyway, these days, basic unicode support is fairly widespread. It looks like I will be researching products from competing companies that offer this function. |

| 0686453624 (1/2/2008) hi !

I got the Wang TTS Chinese voice to show up in the combo list. Are you sure you've got SAPI 5 installed? I get a choice of SAPI 4 and SAPI 5 in my dropdown list. Some of my voices are the former, and some (like Wang) the latter. I couldn't input Chinese characters, though, so Wang ends up reading strange symbols. Poor old Wang's Mandarin accent is just a little off - to say the least!
Have you tried inputting Chinese characters - I know it's no good without a Chinese voice - but I'd like to know if others have the exact same problem with unicode and it's not just me.
T‘ es un canadien qui parle le chinois, peut etre? Je suis un maudit anglophone qui 会说汉语. Glad to meet sb with similar interests... |

| | Strange. I can get the voice showing up in the combo for both CT4.6 and CT5 Beta. My setup is not radically different from yours. The only differences are I'm using a difference voice and English XP. I'm using sth other than ime to input Chinese. Character input works on other programs and I'm not restricted to ime, though. |

| | hi ! yes i have sapi 5 :
but in sapi 5, my chinese voice is not in the list :
Even not in sapi4 :
wheras in my panel system/voice, it's correctly appear :
and in my tts software, i can write and use the chinese voice :
unfortunetly i can't copy/paste chinese text in CrazyTalk, even not IME ! So, i think CrazyTalk 4.6 is not UFT/ complient/supported ? My system is : - Windows XP PRO (not family) with SP2 FRENCH - 32 Bits, full updated. Maybe CT need a chinese windows to correctly use tts chine and input chinese. Once my neightbour will comeback, i will try... What about CT5 ? anybody tried the trial version ? |
