Most of the video’s on YouTube look like third generation tape copies but some look crystal clear. Surprisingly YouTube Help provides bumpkiss of help regarding how to format and encode a video so it comes out decent on upload. I’m deep in the heat of cranking out what I believe to be seriously awesome iClone video’s. So I pose the infamous YouTube question here.

Would someone be so kind as to share with me precisely what application, codec and settings one must use to achieve video clarity on YouTube?

short answer convert video to FLV format using turbine video encoder or flash video studio, bitrate 800 to 1200 kbps, resolution 320 x 240 - note in youtube's case it is the bitrate rather than the video resolution that seems to be the key for nice looking videos

You can find most answers related to video formats and uploading to YouTube here:

As Aknzrdude has already said, bitrate is important so go reasonably high on that but videos on YouTube never look as good as those directly rendered from iClone and run from your computer.
