Hello
I have a wierd timeline problem and I think it is code glitch.
I inserted background music and wanted to match the timeline length to the song.
In the time setting tab it wont change from frames to time.

time for another patch.

Change the time setting using the little clock symbol below the Scene View

Cricky (Leave me a voice mail if you like.)

If you hover over the Clips below that Pop up...you get a Preview

thanks but thats where I was talking about. on the bottom of that panel you can change it from Time to Frame based. Well mine won't switch it to time based AT ALL. Sure I can select time but it does nothing. At the top of the panel where it says "animation length" it stays at "total of ___2000___ frames" . Of course I can change the 2000 to whatever. But I can't select say "total of__4.50___ minutes"

The panel is missing code and needs a patch

just calculate it -

[(Time in seconds) * (30 frames per second)] * 2 = iclone frames

so a 4.5 minute song is

[270 seconds*30 fps*2] = 16200 frames

Hi Chris,

When you change from Frame to Time, it is the clock underneath the Preview Window that changes to show time rather than the animation length itself..

What you can do is set the Animation Length to the maximum 18000 frames (5 minutes)

Change the clock to show time rather than frames and create your project using this setting.

Once you know the final length of your project in time scale, switch back to frame and it will show the total time of your project in frames. You can then enter this into Animation Length if you wish.

I'm afraid currently iClone4 uses the same system as iClone3 so there will be no difference in this respect. I will forward your feedback to the iClone4 team though.

Thanks again Peter

Yeah well that feature would make Iclone a little more user friendly.

Just in the process of creating a presentation for a forum at work, and just noticed this, I didn't actually pay much attention to it really so my fault. Thank fully it is just under 5 mins. Will iClone4 have a longer time limit?

If what is being created is longer than 5, which is my next project I hope. What is the way round it if there is one. Apart from making it a series and editing it in the appropriate software

Thanks

Pete

Hi Pete,

Currently iClone4 uses the same 18000 frames (5 min) project limit as iClone3.

Unless your movie is set in a single location it is normally easier to manage if you create at least one project for each scene used your movie. Then you can compile all the scenes into the finished movie by editing them in a video editor afterwards.

When done this way you have no limitations on the length of your film.
