| Once again I'm trying to do something, and I can't find help in the iclone 3 manual or find a tutorial. STEP ONE: I designed a spaceship interior door in Photoshop. How do you apply the Jpeg to a 3D wall or door prop? If I double click "diffuse" the design gets cut short and turned 90 degrees. The same thing happens if I apply an iclone supplied "material". If I apply the Jpeg to a flex prop by double click "diffuse" the design looks fine. STEP TWO: I want to animate the door to make it look like a monster is progressively denting it from the back side. I'm having limited success with flex prop. Can someone please tell me the right tools to use and "how to"? Thanks. |

| RE: Step 1: There is a button called UV Ref. which will launch a schematic showing you just where the various polygons of the 3D object expect to receive their textures.
As far as I know, it's trail and error from that point to determine the orientation of the diffuse texture against the polygons.
Since you can load diffuse maps over and over again, I start by marking distinctive arrows or symbols in brilliant colors at various places on A COPY OF the diffuse map, guided by the UV reference, to see where each of them winds up. This process tells you how to interpret the UV reference so that your custom diffuse file is correct.
You keep working with the diffuse texture that way until things look good. |

| Sometimes the aspect ratio of the object is different from that of the texture map and you may have to shrink or strecth one of the dimensions. As West says, trial and error...
