i wanted to know how do you guys make a different scenes in iclone? like if have one scene of a guy running but then he is driving a car. do i have to create two projects one with the guy running and then the other scene with him in the car? if anybody have used blender they have stuff like layers and also different scenes that you can have in one project. Is the anything like that for iclone3?

It is really up to the individual to decide, but if you attempt to have too much going on in one project then it can become difficult to manage. Personally I like to work the same as they do in the movie industry. Shoot individual scenes, normally location based, and then edit the scenes in a video editor afterwards.

It is certainly possible to create a single project with a character running, getting into a car and driving off. You may find it easier to break it into two projects though, especially if the two scenes take place in different locations. It really is personal preference though.

Agree with Peter about making it into multiple scenes and edit them in a video editor. I am still learning, but this is the lesson learned. When a scene is too big or too long, the responsiveness in iClone is usually and understandably poor. Limiting one scene to one project also makes it easier to edit.

That's what I do as well; it makes things easier to manage.  Just make sure to use a simple naming scheme to remember the order of your scenes; for example, S1, S2, etc.  If a scene needs further division, I use S3-A, S3-B, etc.  Sound files associated with the scene follow the same kind of naming so I know which belongs to which.  This is especially important if you have dialog because each character has its own sound file. So I add the character's name: S3-A_John, S3-A_Mary, etc.  The same of course for the scripts for lip-synching.  The same again for the output from iClone.  I'm easily confused, but this orderly naming convention has really helped to keep things organized.  Now I do sometimes overwrite the wrong file...
