| | as a former software engineer, I've had to create project estimates. As an example, I calculate that a button requries 8-12 hours of programming effort (data validation, database interaction, etc...) I am not an animator. I have a small project in which I would like to incorporate animation. The Crazy Talk 6 family demo (father, mother, son, dog) cartoon seemed like an excellent prototype in which to use as an example. The purpose of my project is for foreign language training. I also saw another product, the text-to-speech add on product which I am also interested. Is is accurate to assume the Crazy Talk 6 cartoon demo would take 200 hours of effort for every minute of animation. The 200 hours would include storybodarding, scripting, design, etc... I am simply interested in determining the cost of developing animation projects. Since the Crazy Talk 6 cartoon demo is my basis for comparison, those with experience can guage how close or far off base I am. Hopefully, I can get a better idea of the costs involved. Thanks |

| | Hi Mike, I can't really comment on the Crazytalk family project as I was not involved in its creation but in general terms I think 200 hours is maybe an over estimate. Of course it depends on the complexity and length of the project but experienced users will be able to create a project in a lot less than that. I have personally never exceeded 50 hours on a project yet. The vast majority have been well under 10 - 20 hours.
