I have seen a couple of people post about this and watched them get shot down, but no actual response from Reallusion.

A Little background. I am a DAZ Published Artist (Granted small time to date, but still.) and I do work on Textures and shaders for several products that don't have my name on it as well as those that do.

One of the key and best professional ways to get great textures is to use a 3D Paint Program. Personally I have Z-Brush (Also super for creating Normal Maps) Blacksmith 3D, Carrara 7 and I am looking at purchasing Cinema 4D/Bodypaint. If you have UV Mapper Pro and Photoshop, Gimp, Corel Photopaint or most other 2D paint programs you can use UV mapper Pro as a 3D display for texturing. ($60 solution.)

I don't see an export function in iClone 3.2 or 3DXchange anywhere. I know we can go from .obj to iClone 3.2 using 3DXchange, is there a way to go the other way so I can use some of these tools I have to create content for iClone?

If not where do I post a feature request to do just that?

Further my modelers of choice are Lightwave, Hex, and Carrara (in that order) I don't even own 3DS Max and I am unlikely to make enough profit to justify buying it anytime soon. Any chance we can get a Collada import so rigged objects can be brought in without Max? (And where do I post that feature request?)

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to explain your workflow and requirements.

Currently iClone3 doesn't allow export to other 3D formats. iClone3 is an all in one 3D Movie Machine, positioned in the market as a movie making tool rather than as a general 3D modeller. For this reason all its export options are video based so far.

Reallusion is always listening to the requirements of its users so please feel free to share your wish list over at the Wishful Features forum (linked below). All suggestions are reviewed by the Reallusion team and many are implemented quickly into future versions.

Thanks.
