| | Ok I want to have two char's sitting around talking to each other , How do I make one char and only one char move his lips etc to the vocals. no matter how I try it BOTH chars are moving lips and face in time to the vocals. The ony way I can give the effect is to show the back of the one that is not suppose to be talking Right now I only have the standard verison. would the studio verision let me do this. I only wanted to invest in the lesser ver untill I figure out if its worth the money |

| | This was discussed in a thread just a couple of days ago. What came out was that there actually is a way of doing it but it appears to be a secret. Reallusion were asked to make the information available to everybody and not just those that are members of CoolClones because there are a large number of iClone users who are banned from CoolClones for no reason other than belonging to another forum. Reallusion have so far, not responded. The standard version, I believe should do it - if only they would tell us. This is the earlier thread http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic1973-5-1.aspx

| | Hi, In the other thread mentioned above, I gave a link which gives the basic information for achieving two characters talking. Granted the full tutorial is at Coolclones but the information on how to do this was supplied by Visconti on the forum link below. http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic10-10-1.aspx Just read it through a couple of times and try following what Visconti has written. It may sound a bit difficult at first but it becomes clearer with practice. As Visconti states the next version of iClone will feature improvements in this area.

| | Sorry to bug you Peter, but I was aware of this method. The questioner on the other thread was complaining that more than one character could NOT converse WITHIN iClone which I believe most of us know. I said that the second character dialogue track was to be added in editing. I assumed that two characters talking did not carry over to rendering to avi and perhaps I was wrong in that assumption. Cricky however, in his usual way, said it can be done, i.e. two characters talking and audible WITHIN iClone. I have highlighted the relevant point: I keep seeing this come up and I have put out two different videos showing it CAN be done, and without post edits beyond iClone. This information has been available, with the process to do it, for over a year, and people still say it cannot be done. One of the videos showing it being done using an interview can be seen here. There were two people who recently asked this on CoolClones and only one asked for the information on how it's done; they received the answer by message.
The video sample above intentionally left the characters in a still position so viewers can see that there is no post edits or overlays used. My point is this; if it can be done as he says surely Reallusion must know about it too and surely they have an obligation to reproduce the information for all those iClone users that are not allowed access to his information on CoolClones. I know iClone well enough to say that I have my doubts as to the Cricky post on this matter. I repeat, the criterion or question is can iClone make the dialogue track of two characters talking, audible, within iClone itself. I suspect that that original question has been fudged for other motives. If I am wrong I apologise now.

| | Thank you Popeye but the link doesn't work. In any case there is a demo of two characters talking on the other thread. I can do that anyway, it isn't a problem. As this supposed to be possible from within iClone itself then I repeat Reallusion must know about it and they have an obligation to divulge the method to all iClone users. If this is a method that has been devised by other magical methods, not a part of iClone, would Reallusion advise us all of this. The pathetic attempts to shroud this in secrecy are of no consequence. There are ways that work well to do this and as Reallusion have said v3.0 will sort the problem out to everyone's satisfaction and we will not have to play these silly games anymore. It would be nice to get an answer from Reallusion on this. p.s. The demo's prove nothing. I could produce a demo like that. I think we are confusing newcomers to iClone and the answer to them should be no, but wait until v3.0. In the meantime just put the silences in the appropriate places, add the files to the individual characters AND don't worry that you can't hear them BOTH talking in iClone, the sound is there. See below p.p.s. I have just done a sample animation with 2 characters talking and the dialogue is only carried over in rendering to avi for the last one added. Therefore, the ONLY way at present is to add the first dialogue in an editing suite in sync with the lip movement, not difficult. There is NO way within iClone itself to do that without additional chicanery. Why have I just found that out? because I always assumed it didn't, having read that, and never actually tried it and I was right in that assumption.
