Hey, out there.  I'm newer than newbie having downloaded the trial programs a couple times without figuring them out...  So, hello to all.  Great products.  I'd LOVE to finally use them.

I want to import my own content, backgrounds, and 'actors' or 'avatars'.  I'm sure I saw a way to do that in the earlier versions but fighting with the recent downloads I am not finding the way to do that.  I got something talking in CrazyTalk a while back but need more.

I need to make the StarKid talk [for more-less educational materials] PLUS move around and Danse and Sing... and do it in it's own environment.  www.geocities.com/sric2 is where the StarKid Logo can be seen if that will help.  I need 'space' backgrounds plus my beautiful forest setting which I have much of.  I tried the import button at the bottom right of iClone last night but I didn't see any way to bring in the gif and digital photos [or video if possible] for backgrounds.  I'm sure I made a test project with my own background years ago...  Help!

So which programs so I need?  I need to do overlays of energy management demonstrations like www.geocities.com/sric2/cosi1.html  These are scanned from slides taken at CoSi Children's Science Center behind a screen of some sort, I think it was a thermography type screen rather than Kirlian but could have been.  In any event, I need to show this in motion, preferably 3-D, and do the same with the StarKid with overlays of Lights, Auras, Lightning streeks like the one coming out the lowered hand, and the controlled energy geo forms as is coming out of the upheld hand, etc.  What do I need and how do I do it?  I've reviewed the tuts over and over but I just get more comfused.  I have a Dell but just got a Mac Mini and wanted to do it all in the Mac... wish you had Mac based stuff.  If there are Mac programs that will do this, RSVP, too, just in case.  Thanks.

ieshea ieshea@verizon.net cc in case I can't find this forum again!

Hey, Great!  The only post in the entire forum without 1 reply!  Seems like Deja Vu.  Been here done that a few years ago, too.  Oh, well.  Can't buy until I know exactly what I need to make my own pictures and environments GO.

Hi,

Apologies for the lack of a reply. Sometimes posts slip through the net sadly. You did the right thing in bumping it up again with another post.

Firstly I'm assuming you are requiring help with iClone rather than Crazytalk here.

Now in iClone, there isn't one general Import button for everything, but rather an Import option for each category of content you are working with.

So to import a 2D image as a background for your project, you would go to Stage - 2D Background and then choose Open from the Modify Panel. You can also import props by going to Set - Props and then Import from the Modify Panel. It should be noted that the content will need to be in a format that iClone uses first. To convert any props you already have will require 3DXchange to do the conversion for you.

Sadly there isn't anything I can explain here that will be easier for you to learn than reading the help guide (press F1 in iClone) or manual and watching the tutorials. iClone does have a little bit of a learning curve and you will need to spend some time practising and taking in the information contained in the tutorials. I would concentrate on learning the basics of iClone3 before attempting to work with imported models. There is no way to avoid the learning process I'm afraid.

If you have a specific request for help with a particular feature then please don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck.

Thank you, Peter. I'm trying to figure out which programs I need to start importing my own content for the StarKid project. So I need Xchange along with iClone and CrazyTalk it seems. I see grade school age kids using these in your 'commercials' but I still had trouble looking for the import. I may be too old for this anymore. I want to do little educational and demonstration clips with my own StarKid photos and other jpgs, etc. I'm also switching to Mac, what a relief! I wish you'z guy'z would offer a Mac veresion. Any hope of that? Thanks. Great products. Hope to use them ASAP! www.tarajories.com/starkid.html Suzy

I have had iclone for about 2 months, I soon found you could add your own jpg pic in the 2d background tab by clicking import, also if you select a green background you can use a chromakey program like ciegobs keyer to add video, post rendering, see my attempts on youtube wendyvainity channel, I am also a newbie and like to share stuff as I learn it. cheers, wendy

oops that is cinegobs keyer, spellcheck doesn't help me there! I am a freeware addict by the way, try speakonia to add voices to your avatars and of course daz studio to get bits of models through 3d exchange to attach to your avatars and iprops, more cheers lol wendyvainity!
