hello,

I am trying to make new animation in 3dmax and insert it to iclone, but it doesnt seem to work. I dont want to bring any models inside, just new animation.

more than that, I thought about bringing animation from iclone into max, edit it, and take it back to iclone, and a whole piece of fine animation. does anybody know how to do this? if so please explain in detail, cause I'm done for.

thx

Isaac

Hi Isaac,

Animation for props is exported with the prop/model when you save to iClone.

If you are talking about character animation from 3dMax, I am not aware that it can be done.(might be wrong, tho)

I have pasted my answer from another query re Maya, but I think it maybe relevant to you too.

You do not need the iclone-characters for motion editing, just any basic skeleton rigg with around 26 bones.

iclone imports BHV motion files to convert to the VNS files.

I do not know if maya exports BVH or not.

I use the motion editor in iClone studio 90% of the time, there is a good tutorial about the motion editor on youTube.

For the other editing I use Poser7 (mainly because I already have it). I use the poser native "stickman", Keyframe the animation and then export as BVH.

you can use the BVH motion converter in iClone but you will need to make a prt file  (bone ofsets) for the stikman (or what ever skeleton you use), but that is a once off thing to do. Tutorial for this is in the CCD files.

Good luck!
