| | Hi folks. Last year I started to get to grips with iClone2. However my old computer was not really upto running things. However, this year I got a brand new all singing, all dancing super beast of a machine (My 50th birthday pressie to me) I also moved upto iClone3 too. However, unless I am missing something, there doesn't seem to be a motion editor with iC3. So, the question is really quite simple. If I load iC2 Motion Editor, will the contents that I make with it work with iC3?. Thanks in advance Dave R |

| | Hi Dave, In iClone3 the Motion Editor is built into the software and is accessible in the preview window itself. To access it just select your avatar and go to Animation - Edit Motion Layer from the Modify Panel. I would read up on the techniques involved in the help guide (Press F1) first for a better understanding. You can also use motion files created in the iClone 2 Motion Editor in IC3 if you wish. You will have to import them into iClone3 as they won't show automatically after creation.

| Thankyou for the info Peter. It looks like I get the best of both worlds then. I actually enjoy the making animations, there's something quite therapeutic about it for me. I had been working on a range of British Army Drill movements for a few months when the old PC upped and died. Yes, yes, I know. Back-up, back-up, back-up If I remember right, iClone2 Motion Editor is a stand alone from the main iClone2 program, so I may well load it onto my laptop and use the long down times I have (I work nights) to restart the project. Thanks again for the info |

| | Unless you are very skilled with the Motion Editor and as you seem have to recreate from scratch, why not try the tools in version 3? I found them greatly improved and it got me actually animating. Unless, of course, the therapeutic value is in using the Motion Editor...

| Tatterdemalion (6/22/2009) Can you save individual, single frame poses with iClone 3 like you can with the earlier Motion Editor ?You can use Collect Clip to save the single pose. Just create your pose in Motion Layer. Open the Collect Clip track of the Timeline. Highlight the single pose in the Collect Clip track (click and drag) Right Click and choose Add to Library It will then be available as a normal pose motion file.
