3DXchange 2.0 will make you free access to the world's largest 3D library.
Just a quick question...which model will be the first one you want to download?

I’ve got to put this out there.

I’m more then a little put off by the fact that when I purchased just a few weeks ago the marketing material said I could use stuff from Google 3D Warehouse. It failed to mention it would only work if I spent another few hundred on Google’s Pro software. So I dropped hundreds to get iCone and enough stuff to be able to do anything with it. Now, a scant time later Reallusion wants more money from me for 3DXchange 2.0 to do what I had every reason to believe I’d be able to do the first time around.

That’s all, just had to get that off my chest.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you feel the information was misleading. I believe all the promotional material pointed out that access to Google Warehouse would come with the release of 3DXchange 2.0 rather than with iClone itself.

Also with the release of 3DXchange 2.0 you do not have to use the Pro version of Google Sketchup. You can now use the Free version of Sketchup and open the .skp format models in 3DXchange 2.0.

Hi Pete,

One serious shortcoming of 3D Exchange 2 is that even the latest version cannot recognize Google Sketchup 7 which is the current free available version supported by Google.

The neat result is that while you can download and transfer and do several acts of deleting and shading the models from Warehouse, you cannot edit the skp models unless you have a previous version of Google Sketchup 6 installed on your computer.

If somebody is a late entrant in the game like me, then 3D Exchange still provides its roll of a conduit but the previous version with Sketchup 6 allowed editing capabilities.

3D exchange still has the tab for editing sketchup models, which is non functional for anybody with the latest version of Google sketchup.

Hope RA solves the problem soon.

Regards

Hi Surajit,

I have Sketchup 7 Don't select Save for a file, Select Save As..A window will open asking you where you want to save the file, at the bottom there are two more windows - one for the file name and the lower is to select the file type. Click on the arrow to the left of this box and in the drop down window that opens select Sketchup 6 file format.

You can now import the saved file into 3dXchange.

I've also been able to open Sketchup files from ver 5 through 7 in Sketchup 7 without any problems.

Hi Surajit,

Wires has answered the question related to 3DXchange 2.0 and using Sketchup 7. This should solve your problem. There will be a new version of 3DXchange released later in the year.
