It may be that iClone 4 only had snap to grid. Version 5 was a pretty big upgrade.

The Z seems to only snap to object now. I watched the beginning of that video where he is talking about it, and see that your correct, iClone 4 did have z snap.

If you are using cubes that are 100 units square, and you use the object snap, you will have the cubes align at 100Z if there is another cube in the scene for them align to.

So you should be good if you turn both snap to grid and snap to object on, unless you are trying to snap something on Z with no other object in the scene.

There is a lot of information in those tutorials that is still valid, but you found a bit that isn't.

Anyway, welcome to the club! Smile

1) I think Rampa's correct  that iC4 didn't have "Snap to Model"

2) The quickest way of Cloning Props, is to use the Multi-Duplicate Tool, new to iC5.

3) iC3 was a big departure from previous versions & really a different Program. iC5 has the same Core Interface as iC4 with additional Features. iC6 will be markedly different from iC5.

IMO, manipulating & learnoing a Program's Interface is @ least 50% of it's learning curve. Stuckon 3D's Free iC4 Beginners Tuts & Warlord's purchase iC4 Book teach new 3D Animators how to do the basics. Reallusion's User Manual & Video Tutorials assume new iClone Users already have 3D Animation experience. They are poorly produced & difficult to follow.

Since you have iC5, I would forget about iC6 for the time-being, if you want to start Producing your own Storyline Clips in the shortest possible time. .

Thanks for the replies, colour & rampa,

Stuckon 3d's tutorials are great because, as colour points out, he explains the program's interface. This, I believe, is approach is best for newbies.
