I am trying to get an character to walk holding a sign and after positioning the arms up over the head to hold the sign, they don't stay there when I apply a motion like walking. I tried to pin or lock the shoulders, hands etc, but when I try to make the character walk, it overrides my change and the arms move like the original walk cycle motion. How do you fix this? Thanks, TS

Right-click on the motion in the timeline and choose the "remove motion" feature. Then set your arms how you want them.
I believe reach targets can override the animation, if you'd prefer that method.
