Hm yep. I DID find a build of Blender that can EXPORT Alembic, but it's only for Linux.

And I know how you feel. There are all these great tools, but I keep running into Disconnects. Like last time it was that 3DX wouldn't read the bones in the file (although I found a work around through C4D) and this time it's that I wanna use a GPU renderer like Cycles or Blender and as stated, Cycles needs either Alembic which exports with no materials so I don't see the point (Not even material selection groups so how do you get them back in a simple render engine) or through Cycles in Blender which uses MDD files so I'd have to do ALL THIS OTHER STUFF in order to get it working... for EVERY OBJECT and character.

It's rather frustrating when you think about it. It's always that ONE piece missing.

No camera or lights I'd forgive as it's like a pointcache thing, but no material IDs or anything? You might as well bake an OBJ sequence. At leas t that works properly.
