See Screenshots 1 & 2.

Screenshot 1:

iClone Default Character Pose Template & Gizmo. Gizmo attached to Character

Screenshot 2:

Collect Clip Custom Character Pose when applied, the Character Moves to another place, detaching from the Gizmo, leaving the Gizmo useless.

Any reason(s) why this is happening & any Solution(s) re; how to fix it.

TIA Smile

Well, obviously the ride is spinning way too fast and she forgot to wear her seat belt.  Tongue

I'm going to watch this thread closely.  I tried the "collect clip" and the saving motion stuff once day, and had mixed results.  Similar to what you're having, the avatar ended up in a different place.

I was going to "copy" my motion where Pinhead hits his mailbox with a baseball bat into another project, but it didn't work as easily as I'd hoped.

I didn't take time to really investigate it.  I'm sure I would have figured it out by now, but Animagic probably reminded me I have a Pinhead project to work on, so I'll blame him.

I could still benefit from it, and would like to learn more about it, so I hope you get it all figured out.  I won't (shouldn't) spend much time on this until after I finish the first complete pre-vis draft of my Pinhead project.

I think Mark produced a Video Tut solution some time-ago, with a Pocket Watch created out of 3D Blocks, where the Collect Clip Motion opening the top moved the top, for another User. I had a go, too . But that was a Prop, where you can Select a Pivot Point & Edit it. Not a Character, for which there's only one; Bone Root, IMO..

Bit aggravating; A fun Fair's no use without Characters on the rides. Default Sit Template's ok for most, but not all. Just have to Edit Animation Layer for each Character. Ermm

I have very little experience with collect clipping anything, but I do have one question for you. When you created the collect clip motion was your character at position 0,0? I had characters moving around like you are describing and I found out that creating the motion at location 0,0 stopped that for me. That was in version 4 a long time ago now.

No they aren't. They are all Linked to different Sub-Props. Several Characters on 5 different Fair Ground rides..

I haven't "Fired-Up" Wink iClone to check, but probably what I should have done was to Unlink them. set the Z Axis at Zero, before Applying the Collect Clip Motion  & then Re-link them. Which is impractical.

@Colour,

I wonder if something like this would work:

  1. Unlink from current sub-prop
  2. Add a box at 0,0,0 (you can make it invisible later)
  3. Link avatar to the box
  4. Link the box to the sub-prop
  5. Now try doing the collect clip (at the "box level" rather than at the avatar)

I am not overlowing with optimism, but it shouldn't be very hard to try.

I may try doing "collect clip" on my project again, contrary to my earlier intent to not do it yet.  You have me very curious, and I feel the challenge of figuring it out.

Thanks for that, Dennis Smile

However, the number of actions per Character would be impractical within the timescale remaining to complete the Project.

See Screenshot as just one example. Which is a Ben Tuttle Prop that's already animated. The others aren't. Involving taking them apart & rebuilding them, so that they animate. Several hundred back & front Faces needed to be re-attached etc  A huge logistical exercise, just for the Props.

Re; Character Poses, I click on each Character in Scene Manager / Home Icon & then position via Gizmo.

BTW - Pinhead's afraid of heights & comes prepared BigGrin

I was talking about when the original collect clip was made. When you posed the first character and then collect clipped it, was that character at 0,0?

No, Doug.

Neither was it when Applying the Default Template, where the Gizmo retains the correct position after applying it. See screenshot of Default Template.

The problem only lies with Collect Clip Custom Character Motions.

This is a common problem Posted by others & therefore a bug, IMO.

When I was playing with it before I did the collect clip when my character was off to the right by say 50. Then when I pasted the pose onto new characters they all shifted 50 to the right. When I collected the first pose with the location set at 0,0. No matter where on the screen I pasted the motion it was good to go. But like I said, that was version 4.
