I just discovered a really cool trick to do with Bendy Thing! Hopefully, this idea will lead to a whole new family of iClone props from those developers that have access to cloth pinning. Of course, it may be rendered useless with iClone 6, but it's still pretty cool. Thanks again CK! You are most welcome. Very nice demo, rampa. I've not played around with the soft physics yet. I wonder how that works when dropping the cord over say the edge of a table? Have you attached anything to the ends of it yet to see how that performs? I'm yet to discover the secret of pins.... any ideas towards how to set them up in Max would be most welcome. Cheers Bob

Well, lets see if I remember. I am having a bit of issue with the forum search today.
If I recall, you choose a "selection" modifier, and then save selection sets for each pin that you want.
So, under the "modifier" make a vertice selection of the first two edge loops of the cord for one pin, and the last 2 edge loops (vertices) for the other pin.
I think that's all there is to it. The actual physics are set up in iClone.
Of course, iClone 6 will use a grayscale map to attach the cloth to the bones at varying weights. But who knows when this year that will show up.

Bendy Thing Family Grows After a bit more trial and error, and the need to create a better road system for Colour Blind, Bendy Thing is proud to announce the arrival of Flexi Road... Or in other words... While creating one of my terrains for Colour Blind I wanted to have a ditch on either side of a road, but when I tried to do that in Earthsculptor (and several other terrain making apps) the result was far from pleasing. What was needed was to create a road system that included roads with ditches on either or both sides. Using a similar method as Flexi River I created a series of meshes that allow flexible roads that can be manipulated to follow the terrain. See pic below. While this is still a w.i.p. I'm pleased with the result so far... Short demo using Flexi Road as part of a micro scene: (if it doesn't play try Flexi Road on Youtube

That is very promising. In fact, it's awesome! Are you able to carve out aroad bet to put it in? Managing the ditches to surrounding landscape transition may be a bit of a challenge.
Maybe a transparent part of the landscape texture that your road and ditches could follow? I suppose you could just elevate it slightly. Roads are usually built up a bit. Hmmmmm......

Hmmmmm......I've been able to carve road bases in terrains made in Earthsculptor. Then it's just a matter of moving the roads into place. For the road with the ditches I "dug" a trench for the road prop to sit in. I had used an alpha channel edge on the flexi road to blend into the terrain, but for some reason it caused the shadows to give weird artifacts. Still it is a work in progress
