I'd like to know if and how can I change the color of the transit van (Modern Urban Cars 1 set). Also, can I apply text or a logo to the van surface?.
Thank for any help and/or attention.

Hello!

Normally everything has a texture map. We call it a diffuse map. If you click on the car so it gets the yellow box around it and then scroll down on the right hand side till you can see a small version of the diffuse map. Here you click the diffuse map and then the button LAUNCH. Now you can edit colors and the texture as you wish in your prefer paint program. When ready JUST "SAVE" the image back and when back in iClone use the button "UPDATE" to make your changes take effect.

Anything unclear ask again!

Well Gorz, it works!!!. Then I discovered that the added text has to be mirrored depending where is put, otherwise its writen backwards.

Thanks again for your help.

Very happy to see that you managed to change what you wanted. The thing with text has to do with the orientation of the maps. Pure mathematicaly it does'nt matter if a map is upside down or mirrored. you will get what ever is on the texture map placed on the mesh ( the wire net everything is built of ) .  So text can be a bit tricky to get right.  Imagine how much I have to doodle before my texture maps actually is what I want them to be .

Good luck and ask again if anything is unclear to you!

I know that this thread is about "Change transit van color" on a prop from the Modern Urban Car series, but I would like to know if the cars in that series has any predefined animation, such as wheels turning.  I'm asking because I have the Modern Cars by WireCase and discovered that the wheels do not turn; this is a motion that is needed for a scene that I'm working on.  Also if the Modern Urban Car series does not have this function, is there a way to "fake" the turning of the wheels???

The Modern Urban Cars series do not have moving wheels I'm afraid. These cars are low poly so you can have many of them in your scene without any slow down. The best way to "fake" moving wheels is through creative camerawork. If you take a look at the video below you will see it is not too obvious that the wheels are not moving.

Modern Cars in Action

For more realistic cars with moving wheels and opening doors then take a look at ther iCar Body Shop pack. This has a large variety of vehicles and all the tools to create your own customized cars. It is well worth a look.

Thanks Peter,

I'll take a look at the video, but I was afraid that iCar Body Shop would most likely be the solution.

However is there a way, an easy way (not spending hours and hours) of using the Rotate UV iProp Base to show the wheels rotating, then attach/link a car to the it and transform to a forward motion????

SO MANY IDEAS SO LITTLE TIME AND NOT A LOT OF  FUNDS!!!!

Thanks again

Peter,

I did watch the video.  HOWEVER, I found parts of the iCar workshop in backstage and I still had some bonus points.  So after following the steps, I've been able to make the wheels on one of the cars from the WireCase Modern Cars rotate.  This was the solution I was looking for.   Hopefully, I will be able to finish soon.

Thanks again!!!

Indeed, the iCar Body Shop is perfect for customizing your own cars and well worth having for anyone wanting to animate vehicles in iClone. Glad to hear you were able to get the desired effect now.
