| | Hi, a bit of help would be appreciated. When I try the opacity map "grungy border" on a G2 character's clothes, I get instead "see through" (can see through to the skin). In fact, same thing happens when I try the "dirty" map: no dirt, just the "see through" effect. What (probably obvious) thing am I not doing? I suspect it has something to do with layers???? Again, any help would be appreciated (and thanks again for all the previous help), Dave |

| | Hi Dave, The problem where the clothing became totally see through probably occured because I'm guessing you just applied the "grungy border" opacity map directly to the outfit without any editing first. Because of the size of these opacity maps, if you apply it directly you will just cover the entire outfit. What you need to do is go into your image editor and resize part or all of it and apply it just to the area you require. In the example below I quickly took the "grungy border" opacity map and applied it to only the bottom part of Jane's CloneCloth gown. This gave it a ragged transparent look. By spending a little time and trying different things you can get some good effects this way.

| | Peter, thanks. That'll probably do it (that's exactly what I was doing wrong); I'll try it out as soon as I have the chance. Thanks for taking the time to clarify. My homeless character will now appear more "homeless". Thank you. [I guess the same would go with the "dirty"; just apply it in spots...] Slowly but surely, piece by piece iClone is revealing itself as the extremely powerful, wonderful product that it is. Dave |
