Is an update planned for 3d exchange. If so, how soon?

I almost bought 2.0, but then I thought wait, mabe we will see 3dxchange capabilities rolled into Iclone itself rather than existing as a stand alone app (sort of like the motion editor).

There will will  a new 3DXchange released but at the moment I can't tell you much more than that. One thing that is planned is to allow ZBrush users to the ability to import their work into iClone through 3DXchange. No news on a release date as yet I'm afaid.

That's great! Zbrush introduce a lot of very powerful tools like ZMAPPER AND Zapplink...very useful for iClone

my hope would be when you export the render would be better but it could very well be my graphics card if the process is very video card dependent rather than algorithm based.
