jst a recap I tried reopening the files i exported with 3dexchange and they are wrong so it's probably not unity it's 3dechange not exporting the falling character properly.

What do you mean you see no mecanim button anywhere? My question was which animationsystem you use in Unity. Actually 3D xchange works very well. Maybe you can send me your file with the animation issue and I check it for you.

Well with a big work around I was able to export my animations as BVH and manually set them to the model in blender and it worked. Not sure what 3dexchange6 problem is with models that should fall over. might be the skeleton I used or something not really sure. I'll think about posting the file here but it's for a project I'm working on with a team so I'd need permission to share it. I'll work something out.

Nice to hear, it works now for you. gave legacy mode a go but It seemed to just remove the animation data not sure how it works, And mecanim again not sure how to make that function i didn't see a mecanim button anywhere Well, it sounds, you are still not very familiar with Unity. I can not believe the problem is 3D xchange. But more as like to help can I not do.

Can you import Unity Assets into iClone? For example, I downloaded the Unity-Chan figure from the Unity3d asset store, but when I dropped the FBX into 3dXchange, it crashes the 3dXchange software.

I use 3dxcahnge 5 Pipeline and it works , but you need assign the texture manually

I am using 3dXchange 6 Pro (it's import, so I assume that Pipeline doesn't matter in this case) Have you tried that character, by any chance? https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/18705

Argh!!! I am jealous now! Did you just use the unitychan.fbx that is 1690kb? If so, then something broke between 3dX5 and 3dX6. I wonder if I can get 3dX5?
