| | Does anyone have a bone rigging tutorial for blender to set bones for conversion in 3dxchange? I know how to rig the bones but the pelvis and torso bones appear different. |

| you can't find a bone rigging tutorial for blender? They're all over youtube.
There's something in Blender called Rigify which makes things really easy.

There's something in Blender called Rigify which makes things really easy.Yes, hence the comment "I know how to". What I meant was, the pelvis and spine/upper torso look different than the templates in 3DXchange. When adding bones in blender, the pelvis bone consists of 3 unique bones where in Genesis and 3ds formats the bone for pelvis and upper torso bone are shaped different. When custom mapping the bones in 3dxchange, you are left with bones that are either unattached/parented, or unmapped bones. This appears to cause a problem in the animation. |

Say you have a, "Left Hip, Right Hip, Front Hip, Back Hip,...Upside Down Hip " constituting a "Pelvis/Hip bone"... Can You select , "One Bone" and move move the "Entire PELVIS?" Can You select , "One Bone" and move move the "Entire SPLINE?" ~ If so, use that specific bone to map in 3dxchange!~ If not.... LINK Them To Achieve This ! Just a suggestion! . |

There's something in Blender called Rigify which makes things really easy.I found the rigify function ** Mad props to you for that ** It works well, but when I use their "deform" armature, it does the same "spider web" thing from my last iprop to non standard character topic. I tinkered with the origonal human rig from the rigify feature and using the envelope method, exported an fbx that was animatable, but very "floppy". There are apparently several different ways to rig in blender as I have found several different methods including the rigify, weight painting, parenting, auto weight, envelope, This is what I meant when I was asking for a tutorial; a specific method to use that works well when brought into 3dxchange. My experience with rigging began approximately 24 hours ago so pardon my nooberance to the issue. I have followed their steps one by one, some methods dont work at all, others somewhat work, but I have yet to find a "recommended" method for blender rigging that works well in 3dxchange |

| my personal favorite way of rigging in blender ...is I fire up messiah studio and auto rig then export to fbx ...I import the rigged fbx into 3DX5 Then I pant my character all black, on many layers of strange UVs, it drives swoop crazy when I do this so I do it often lol

| | Well, I cant afford messiah right now. I cant afford autodesk either. I know people rig obj's in blender and in daz, I have found the different tutorials available and the different methods, I am asking someone who has done so to please provide a specific method for either program that works well in exchange. |

Lucky you; Mixamo will now rig your character for free as long as it's less than 10K polys.

From what I have read about their "atuo rigging", it is specifically a Maya operation that must be post applied in maya for it to work. is this not correct? |

No: 3DX5 is perfectly ready to accept the resulting Maya rig.
