| Forgive me if I ask dumb questions that may seem obvious to everyone.
I'm looking to attempt to use some form of 3d annimation for special needs kids. I downloaded the trail version Iclone 3. It may be more than I really need. I'm just looking to give these kids some visual representation of how to correctly do things. Simple things like use a fork for your food, wash your hands after bathroom. I think the teachers call this stuff video modeling, using videos of real kids showing the correct way of doing something. It helps some of the special kids learn. Well it's not easy finding real videos of sit on the potty.
Am I looking at the right software with the clone 3?
Am I going to have to break the wallet out every time I need a prop such as fork, plate, glass, bathroom sink?
If I do purchase the clone 3 are more props included when you upgade to full user or am I limited to just what I've seen so far? Only spent a couple hours with it but the trail seems to be lacking props.
How helpful is the forum with new users? Guess I'll find that out soon enough. LOL Thanks in advance for any help.

| wouldn't a video camera be a much simpler and cheaper solution for this?
the amount of time it takes to create a 3d movie with accurate motions kinda makes this approach a non starter in my opinion - unless there is something about 3D animation that resonates with the kids

| | Hi co1e I have worked with kids with special needs using iClone. It is amazing how this inspires them. As for you breaking the bank for props? You may want to look at 3D exchange as this comes with iclone. This may cost you little to begin with but it will reap benefits if you decide to go ahead and buy iClone. 3D exchange will give you access to Google warehouse where there are thousands of FREE models that can be downloaded and brought into 3D exchange. Once in 3D exchange export them to iClone. I am positive you will find your forks, plates, glasses along with bathroom facilities. Take a look at it here and this will give you some idea 3D Exchange Hope this helps Popeye

| | Hi Cole, Myself and Popeye recently completed a project which was used to create a training Video. The finished product is being used to train Nursing Assistants in Caring for the Elderly and infirm within Care Facility settings in the USA. This was a specialized project but the method used could be transferrable to meet your requirements and as Popeye already said, there are many props already available. Hope this helps Shy

| Thanks dude and Popeye!
The camcorder was my initial thought. It's kind of awkward asking can I video your child using the potty even if it is a good cause. Animations seem to hold the childrens attention more dude. Maybe they are more like cartoons to them. I also think the ability to edit an action from a different angle, zoom to how to hold a fork, stuff like that would help individualize whats best for each child disability. You bring up a good point on the time dude. Most of what I would be looking to make would be 10 second simple animations. Once familar with Iclone would that be a very time consuming process?
Would I need to purchase also Google sketch up to use the images/props from the 3d warehouse? Or is it that the Exchange allows you to convert the items on the 3d warehouse to a from iclone would use?
My apologies if these are basic questions. I know the answers are probably out there if I had the time to search. As a single dad of a special needs child I find it easier to just ask.
Thank for your response too Shy. I think I'm on the right track here with this idea and with the trial selection of the software. I'm looking to just help kids and other parents. Your mention of the training video reinforces the idea I'm on the right road.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

| | Hi again Cole, The models from Google warehouse are free and load directly into 3dxchange, so no need to purchase Sketchup. However, just for information, there is a free version of Google sketchup. Here's the link VIEW HERE Hope this helps Shy

| Thanks again everyone!
I went ahead and did the bundle thing with the exchange, the iclone pro and the crazy talk. The idea of crazy talk seemed pretty cool too. I'm sure my questions have just begun but I wanted to say thanks for the advice and recommendations. |

There are several excellent resources that are part of the iclone community. Feel free to ask away and take advantage of the wealth of knowledge that is out there. Another fan based site and yes, this is a shameless plug is the C3 portal FOUND HERE Many of the same iclone users that have several years of experience to pass along.
