This was referring to 3. in the same post, just above

Ok, your D: chkdisk looks fine also

The maximum pathlengh of NTFS is a little bit complicated.
I theory it is ca. 32.767. But in reality there are some APIs which are only capable of 255 or 260. So is the maximum you should go.

So, let´s continue to guess:

Perhaps you have moved the WAV file, or renamed the path name of this file?
Could you make a MP3 out of the WAV file and use this inside your project?
If you can open the project in CTA, delete the WAV file, and use the MP3.
Perhaps it will help?

Next idea:
Are you using something like Symantec AntiVirus?
Please check your computer for a file called:
Vsp.sys

This might also cause this error. But please do not delete the file! Just tell me if it is there!

We haven't touched the WAV file since we played it the first time and it worked. It actually runs perfectly INSIDE CTA, but when you export it, it gives us that @#$%^& error message!!??? If we then try to play it right after the error, ALL the sound is gone!?!? So we close CTA, open it up again, play our CTA project file (inside CTA) and it works perfectly (including the audio it says it can't load during the export!?!?!).

What we are trying to point out here is that the problem is ISOLATED to the EXPORT capabilities of CTA. Editing is perfect, Exporting is a TOTAL nightmare!!!! Unreliable and buggy!!

...and once again, ALL audio files work PERFECTLY both in and outside CTA, it's just the CTA EXPORT that screws everything up :-( :-( :-(...

Unfortunately, we can't produce MP3, but we can produce: WAV, AIFF, QuickTime and Windows Media audio files....how's that?

We are not using Symantec, we have McAfee. Anything we should know about this one?

By the way, here is the same exact problem but this time with MP3 instead of WAV:

http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic81503-251-1.aspx

He was getting that @#$%^& "WAV can't load" error even without a sound file!?!?

This bug has been around for more than a year!? When will Reallusion fix this!?!?

We've tried to make the WAV files as small as possible...

We re-recorded everything and put all the sound fx in one track....

But of course....IT DIDN'T WORK!!!

And we still get this #$%^&* useless error message:

"WAV file load error." (btw, CTA doesn't even call this an error, on the prompt box it says "Reminder")

...that tells us NOTHING about what the real "problem" is!!!!

VERY FRUSTRATED TEAM!!

We have exported a CTA project (of about 500 Megs) a couple of times successfully. We made some camera adjustments (and that's it!!) and now it has given us this error message 10+ times in a row:

"Free Disk Space on Disk C is insufficent. CTA may not run properly"

But we have...822 Gigs free???

We checked the \Users\AppData\Local\Temp file and it is writeable, no problems there...

We tried shutting down and restarting CTA, windows plenty of times to see if maybe there was something cached in memory that had to be flushed...but nothing.

The times where we are able to load the project and begin the export...it fails almost immediately by saying:

"WAV file load error."

And then it kills the export!???!

When we open the CTA file we check to see if there is a problem with the WAV and it runs perfectly...??

What is going on with CTA!?

Any thoughts?

Hi..

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Please correct me if I have misunderstood, but are you saying the project file is 500MB? If so this is a extremely large project and most likely the cause of the problem.

CrazyTalk Animator does not set actual limits, but every user will have a limit based on their own system. Using very large project files will push even the most powerful of systems to reach their limits quite quickly.

To try and resolve the issue I would advise trying a couple of things:

Try exporting just a small part of the project file, for example 20%. If this is successful you can try increasing it to 40% and so on until you find where the error occurs.

If this doesn't work you could try actually splitting the project into two or more parts. You could then compile each part afterwards in a video editor.

I would also advise saving frequently while working on a project. Don't simply overwrite your current project but save as a new file. This way you can always revert back to a working file should you encounter issues like this.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your response.

I'm sorry to have to say that I cannot agree with 500MB being too big -if the year is 2012. Perhaps some time ago this would have been true, but a 500MB project with aprox 16GB of memory at its exclusive dispossal (when we export we kill all process and apps to leave CTA by itself) in order to realize an export, cannot be a neck-breaker for any animation software/package in this day an age.

If there are any developers in this forum (perhaps you are one as well) we could all agree that if ~16GB of memory to process a 500MB project fails (again, and again, and again...) the first place to look at, is in the code. Perhaps CTA does not clean or properly close its memory threads/heap, memory allocation of the native CTA exe is just off, etc. If I may throw in a suggestion, I think that CTA simply does not use all of the server's available resources properly, and that one of the reasons why it crashes so often when doing any sizeable exports is because it is not using the full extent of the server's capabilities. If we could see CTA squeezing our processors/memory to their FULL extent, and THEN, it crashes, that's a completely different story...

We have more than enough juice in our boxes, and CTA is just not taking it.

I really hope that CTA\Reallusion addresses this problem (as in, very soon) given that this software is too good to be only properly suited for enthusiastic hobbyists (which I fully know is not your intention). If CTA is going to be embraced by the pros, there needs to be some more robustness and stability in the product. You cannot have a team of grown men biting their nails every time you push the export button

Your suggestion of splitting the project is indeed how it should be done, but this is an option when you have clear and cut "split points". Many times (as it has also been expressed in this forum) splitting the video will cause havoc with the audio tracks, timing, etc. Professional animation software is not meant to export the whole movie in one shot, but it should be able to handle 500MB - 1GB without too much drama.

Please let us know if there are any fixes planned for this, perhaps it would be called an enhancement, but do let us know if this is an issue that is being looked at, or if it is a non-issue for Reallusion/CTA. This will help a lot of us in deciding what role a software like CTA can take at present, and in the future, for our projects/organizations.

Thanks!

Hi Kawatzakka

I have seen in some of the other posts you have made related to this issue that you are using audio bitrates of 1058kbs and files sizes of 160MB per audio file. This is simply too big for CrazyTalk Animator to process when you are using multiples of these audio files. I can see no reason whatsoever why you would want to use such huge bitrates. There is no benefit to using this size in CTA, it is only a hindrance to performance.

Also it is not a simple case of a 16GB computer processing a 500mb file. It is CrazyTalk Animator having to process these huge files and it is not designed to do so. You can keep your project exactly the same quality with no compromises but just simply use smaller audio file sizes.

That is exactly what we did:

http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic121168-251-1.aspx

But the problem is still exactly the same. Our audio files are now between 9-10MB (x3, thus 30-MBs total audio) but we still didn't manage to make a successful export on either WMV or MP4. Oh and yes, we tried using MP3 and WAV, but both failed...

Wait. CTA can't use your 16 GB, as it is a 32Bit application. Therefore after 2GB it's out of memory. Have you tried to use the 4GB patch?

Ahh...what is this mighty patch you speak of yaRincewind!?

A magic patch that will allow CTA to use more of our memory!?

Which patch is this!? Where can we find it?
