Hello from Arizona, I think I read somewhere that you cannot take a head from a character and send it out to an image manipulation program to change it because the CTA files are proprietary. Is there any way to do this?
For example I have a standard head on a character and I wanted to export the head and make it look like it was burned in drawplus or gimp, can you do it?
thanks amundo!

Hi..

If it is a morph based custom character and you have the original image then you can do this easily.

First edit the original image in your image editor to get as you want it.

Then in CTA take your head to Character Composer and select Face Fitting.

Click the Replace Image button on the right bottom of the page, and load your edited image.

Now the original image will be replaced with the new image, while leaving the wireframes and feature points unchanged.

Hello as well from Arizona!!  You can export a video to SWF format, then pull that SWF into Flash, and make edits.  But you'll still have to re-import the changed piece 1 piece at a time as if you were importing a new character. Vidi had put together a very quick little video showing how to do this...  http://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost93499.aspx

Wizaerd, If I understand you right I think you are saying ( remember I am still new to all this) render a picture or just the character as a SWF (or png?) and then import it into flash ( I only have drawplus) and then change it and use the character composer to get it back in or the individual parts back in? right? I will try. Seems like they were trying to make the vector files proprietary.
thanks for the ideas!

That what you see in my video, SWF import and break to back the original vector Shapes, is not possible in Draw plus only in Flash.

I bought Flash just for CTA. Now it is my favorite vector Drawing tool.
I love it. It is the perfecte symbiosis to CTA .The most vector programms works only with closed shapes , not so with Flash.

I am still a bit confused about this Flash vs Draw Plus issue. As I understand Vidi says Draw Plus cannot be used for the creation of body parts (and whole bodies) and then imported into CTA as swf files, but in this post:
how to create CrazyTalk Animator Hand Files and body parts Eey,nose,brow,ear......... ect
I get the impression from Peter that it can.
Please can someone give me a definitive answer.
Cheers,
Shanty

DrawPlus can be used to create new characters from scratch.  But if you wanted to modify an already created character, and export it as a SWF, then I do not believe DrawPlus would be able to do that.  it comes down to creating a brand new character, or modifying a character.
