With this "thread of hope" I am seeking either a conclusion to my R&D of iClone or it's continuation.I work for an e-learinging company that is looking to add animation to our business simulations. For the longest we have been using still imagery or video. We have implemented Crazytalk to enhance our photo imagery and use it in our 2D illustartions and cartoons. Our clients love it, it's awesome. Then comes the desire for 3D Avatars. Poser and iClone are squaring off. I worked up sample animations in both programs. The look of our poser renders were great, but it would cost us either a lot of time or money to create the library of 40+ characters that we need. With iClone we loved having the ability to customize clothing and create different characters so easily and have quick rendertimes. Everyone loved it except we kept getting comments about the quality of the render and lighting compared to Poser. Frankly it just won't do, it has to be better. As a seasoned 3D artist and animator I figured heck, we'll just export the characters from iClone to 3DS Max and render them there. Or take them from Max into Lightwave, it has a motion mixer animation tool built-in. This would allow us to quickly create low-poly, fast rendering models from iClone, and give us the added benefit of more powerful animation and rendering tools. HAHA solution! But wait... I can't find the export button in iClone... hmm what about this 3DXchange I have been hearing about? Nope can't export there.... wait there is a 3DS MAX plug-in for Developers i forgot about, surely that will allow MAX to import VNS or iClone models! Nope not a chance. Apparently iClone has a one way production pipeline. You can get whatever you want in, but you can't get it out. What the Heck!Is there anyone who has found a way to get iClone models out of iClone and into another program. As it stands we cannot use iClone which sucks because we feel like we are back to square one. Not to metion i look very stupid. Most 3D programs allow for a reasonably flexible production pipeline. Heck if it was packaged as an Avatar creation tool alone, that would allow me to export my character creations with UV maps, to .3ds .obj or .lwo format, I would pull the trigger immediately! Is iClone working towards giving their users the ability to get their creations out of their program, or not?

Codecs to view CCD videos

Please advice where to download the Codecs used for the CCD how-to videos in the CCD section. You need to rename the JPGs to get a good render! Now the doubts:-Is the template suitable to generate the "double" skin characters? It seems not. Once a character is created, for instance a Fat Man with big belly, it must be dressed up with MAX texturizing, because when at Iclone, applying clothing will revert to a normal shape and the "fat" man is gone! Am I doing something wrong?-Has any other developer tried this template? When I save a VNS made with it, via MAX- Iclone plugin, later it will NOT always load into Iclone. Sometimes it will be rejected others accepted. I have had some help from other members in this forum and they could not load the character at all. My first trials are very simple. Just made a little bump in the belly, keeping the structure intact, no need to reskin as I did not add any more vertex.- Should I reskin, no matter I have only done minor changes to the mesh without affecting vertex or polygon count?I hope someone is trying this already to work together!!!!!!Mike

Carnegie Mellon BVH converted to poser

A guy named MojoDallas made already the conversion for the Carnegie Mellon collection of BVH files. I was starting my conversion program when I found his post. Have not fully tested them yet, but am sure they are worth to give a look. http://www.sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads.php?pf_user_name=mojodallasThese are converted for poser. The pipeline would be to import it into poser for the james figure, and from there to export the bvh. Then, import it with Iclone. The problems I have found relate to the actual frame number of this capture files, hence their frame rate. I determined that a quick and easy solution is to modify the Poser7 profile in iClone, assigning a HIGHER framerate, say, 120, 180 or even higher fps. Then the BVH converter in iClone eliminates intermediate frames and give a more natural response. With the normal 30 or 60 fps, animations look in "slow motion" when finally imported into iClone.

3DS Max Plugin For iClone3 Released

3DS Max Plugin For iClone3 Released (Beta)
Great news for Developers. For using the profile with the initial JediBones test sample pack, every bvh file needs to have the first frame removed. The last three moves that peaklevel posted work without modification. I mailed peaklevels and he will be posting a second Jedibones test package, with my corrections applied. BVH files need to have a 'Profile' for the iClone Motion Converter to understand how to convert the BVH file into iClone's CHB motion file format.[/quote]So this means what concerning Endorphin? Has this been discussed amongst the "Powers That Be"? Endorphin absolutely ROCKS! Unfortunately Endorphin outputted BVH's don't work. It's worth looking into however, as it is a fantastic product, and I hope to see it get some support. (is this still in BETA?) I thought it would be a cool profile to offer, but at the moment my hands are tied. All I can say is this... if you want my money, the software has to work as advertised, and this product is not quite to the "retail" stage of development. It has more glitchesthan GW Bush's personality. ALSO:I have to wonder why my system (most notably my video card) is insufficient to properlyrender a "decent" scene in iClone, yet it renders fantastic scenes in 3ds max (my weaponof preference, as well as EVERY other 3D product that I use? I read something in theforums someplace where someone asked why their card was not acceptable and theresponse was something like "Your card does not have the power to meet iClones demand".My point is this.. iClone demands a LOT for what it puts out. I can do scenes in maxthat are way more complex, with way better motion, and it renders fast... and you knowwhat I like the most? WATER LOOKS LIKE WATER!! LOL! I'm not saying that iClone doesn'tlook good, but it IS NOT a resource friendly application... and I feel the output is mediocrein relation to the resources used. I realize that you can't compare a $200 application toa several thousand dollar one, but the resource issues suck, and Reallusion still seems tobe in bed with Nvidia (whom I despise). Anyway....My overall attitude is a bit negative, I admit... but the frustration is maddening. iClonehas huge potential. It's easy to work with and the concept is great, but... ...I'm not dishin' out $$$ 'till "at least" all the buttons are working. Hey... if you guys decide to do a BETA.. I'd be happy to help out!! You really have to test these thingsBEFORE selling them... or perhaps this is the webs first "retail BETA". ;)

BVH motion files

Although it won't be easy, I am trying to use other BVH files into iClone.
