ICLONE3 STOPS WORKING IN VISTA

Been using ICLONE3 PRO for over a week with no problems until today. I was attempting to use the CAMERA functions. No problem using them before today.

I am getting these messages that say "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." The program shuts down. I've restarted my desktop and that does not help either.

I have this same problem with another program I have been using too. The only solution I have found on my own is to simply "reinstall" that software, then everything works for 24 hours.

However, since REALLUSION only allows you to do 5 installs, I'm obviously not going to go that route.

Someone told me something about switching my ICLONE3 to compatibility mode TO XP (I have VISTA).

How can I fix this?

Is it me or is there some sort of problem with VISTA?

How to set preference to "pixel shading"?

Installing iclone 3.1 update patch

When running update file to update iClone 3.03 to 3.1, installer starts, but then displays message BVH Motion Converter is in Use.

Task Manager shows no applications in use. Cold reboot did not clear the problem. I see files in the task manager that would be related to this program.

My iClone 2.5 used to copy my custom saved projects showing a scene of the project in the thumbnail. Now it doesn't. It's either black or it looks rather like a dysfunctional TV reception screen. (Launching the project is fine.) What would cause this?

Also, I have iClone 3.1. I keep reading on the board that there are other updates. If so, where can you get one?

Moving iClone to a different PC

When I first got iClone I installed it on an HP laptop running XP Pro not realising that the graphics card was not up to strength so no pixel shading meaning no live plants, water or spring effects.

So I want to migrate over to another PC with a better graphics card but which is running Vista Business. Has anyone done this and is there a relatively painless procedure to follow?

hello all.new guy to the forums. i'm a big fan. read all the work just haven't posted before.while i find the rigidity of the programming structure a little inhibiting i love the final product.so I'm here to stay. I'm working with [b]Iclone 3 [/b]on a HP desktop with compatible all. now new stuff recently. things have been working fine and then from what i'm not certain anymore, but i'm getting an error about [b]'just-in-time' debugging[/b] that is preventing me from running iClone 3. i can sometimes get [b]v2.5[/b] to run but this error is persistant. looking for any solutions even bright ideas to address the problem.thanks.the fallen

Vista permissions annoyances

Lots of people such as me liked XP and have resisted Vista, but you can't fight M$ forever.

After I was blessed with the Sony VGN-AW125J (man, it's nice!!), I got a taste of Vista's interference with one's work day.

I get stopped by the user account control police every time I run iClone3, asking me if I really want to do such a thing. I also get hassled for trying to copy files into the Program folders.

Worst of all, I was unable to update bitmaps on avatars because the temp folder was locked by the OS. I had to alter the temp folder setting in Preferences.

Is any of this going to be helped by a Windows Service Pack?

If not, can Reallusion ameliorate some of these OS annoyances? Obviously, they will present varying degrees of a barrier to product use, depending upon the sophistication of the user.

(PS 64 bits in Vista is cool, however--especially with Nvidia graphics!)

Should I uninstall 2.5 before installing iClone3?

I have not yet made the upgrade to iClone 3, due to work commitments and because I hope by waiting a while, the issues that have been reported will be fixed.

Given that Christmas is coming, so I should have some time on my hands to play, I will probably upgrade in a week or two from now.

Is there any advantage / disadvantage to uninstalling iClone 2.5 before installing iClone 3?

Can't install Christmas in Suburbs pack

I installed iClone 3, then the 3.03 patch then the 3.1 patch - so, as far as I know, I have the latest version - indeed, when I open iClone, it tells me it is version 3.1.

However, when I try to install the Christmas in the suburbs pack, it tells me that I have Version 3.03 and refuses to install. Emails to customer suppirt have not produced any response. Any ideas about this? I am relectant to reinstall as it seems to me I would have to do the same things, ie reintsall and then install the patches.

In my case I am also a teacher in several engineering careers, about applied technology, software development, imaging and animation systems and computer music production. :discuss:But I am required to have a through understanding of the subjacent processes taking place in software execution. That is why I was reluctant to the opinions regarding "higher powered cards" and card incompatibilities. What is not always known is what is defined as "well behaved software". This means, a well written program, mainly those interfacing with complex hardware, which in turn is subject to evolution and change, MUST observe the principle of hardware interrogation and adaption to available modes and services.A well behaving program will never "talk" directly to the hardware but will do it by means of the driver services and underlaying APIs. This what DirectX is supposed to be for. So a well behaved program will first check the facilities, services and features available and will configure itself to bring the most out of what is available and will SCRATCH OUT his own functions which will collide with unavailable situations.The fact that IC 2.5 worked OK with the Nvidia 62 series, made me think something was not being observed by the IC 3.x interfacing dll's, which is still happening as long as hardware bugs appear. I am glad of not having accepted "experienced" arguments in pro of me substituting the card, because of it`s unnoticeable "weakness".So, what I did was to create a new XP partition solely for the purpose of testing the problematic configuration. The THIS IS WHAT I DISCOVERED:Nvidia 6200 works fine, fast and very sharp with Iclone 3.5 as well!!!!!Now you see why I was reluctant? But.... Nvidia users MUST watch this three things:1.- Use a driver not higher than vers: 85.xx. Never the "latest" drivers 100.xx up!!!!2.- DO NOT, hear well, DO NOT update DirectX to anything except what comes with Iclone 3.x.. and do install it! If you have updated DiretX before or after, you are DEAD!!! You will have to dismantle DirectX and this might set the system inoperative !!!!! Wow !!!!!3.- Once it is working don`t fall to the temptation to update anything, including Iclone patches. Wait until RI comes with a stable and final version.I appreciate your help. Final Render doesn't work for me

Hi everyone, I have a problem which perhaps someone could help me with. I cannot output a final render (with the Final Render option) in iClone. If I try to make images or a video, they just some out blank black, I can render out a preview video but that is all.My PC has a Pentium 4 - 3.40GHz. First I had a Radeon 9600XT 256 installed with the Omega drivers, final render didn't work. So I went back to the newest official ATI driver, this also didn't work. One weird thing to point out is this; When I had the Omega driver installed, I switched on everything I could find under it's tweaking options, mostly I think under the OpenGL and DirectX ones. When I did this, a yellow or red number appeared in iClone near the 'Quick Shading' button, but still, final render didn't work.So then I bought a (Sapphire) Radeon X700 256mb so that I could slightly upgrade my pc... yeah this didn't make any difference, it still doesn't work.I know my pc is fairly old, and these GFX cards are far from cutting edge new tech, but I still figured there must be a way to render out stuff in iClone. Can anyone help please?((PS- I also tried an even older Radeon card, but of course that also didn't work))

Hundred Years War Theme Pack and Horse & Tack Pack

Hi Gang-I am an iClone 3 Pro user and have no problems with the software.I'm faced with a rather expensive problem here. I purchased both the 100 Years War Pack ($199.95) and the Horse & Tack Theme Pack ($79.95) - downloaded them TWICE and can not get them past the serial number validation screen - the screen progress bar goes about half-way and just stops. The Cancel button does nothing. It is so easy to criticize these days, and also so easy to forget to say thank you instead.So I am saying thank you publicly.I bought the iClone 3 upgrade without checking the specs and was thus disapointed when it would not run on my system.I contacted customer service and Kelly totally worked with me on options. Just as I was about to trade off for another Reallusion product and move on, Kelly asked me to wait for 3.02 patch. I am happy I did.iClone is now working on my system, without all the bells and whistles, but with the features I wanted to streamline my workflow.So, thanks to Kelly and the iclone customer service staff. Give them raises. It was my mistake, and they still worked with me with no complaints, and everything worked out in the end.For those wondering, my system has intel graphics, so if you messed up like I did, install the latest patch and see what happens.

IClone Ex to Ex plus Download Fails!

Hi,I downloaded the evaluation copy of IClone Ex 3 and registered as a premium member. Like probably thousands of others I downloaded this to evaluate before committing to quite an expensive lay out for Iclone pro, especially adding all the packs, and by the way, you do not make at all clear what is exactly included in the pro/purchase version. You need to make a precise list of exactly what is included, including if any which addon packs. No-one is going to buy software not knowing exactly what is included.Leaving aside the extremely over-complicated and poorly explained procedures to download and install what IClone itself tells me I ought to do when starting it ("stop! You haven't installed all the content....blah blah...click here, do this, do that")...why do you make the user run through badly explained hoops just to get content upgrade?But the most frustrating thing is that you invite me to download and install IClone EAx Plus which I do, 3 times, and the download quits at 148 megs, NOT the 216 Megs you advertise. Not surprisingly the installer quits because it is incomplete. How do I resolve this please?Not wishing to pile on the criticism too much, but it is hard to avoid...how on earth are you going to persuade me to buy this software if even the evaluation version "plus" version download fails at the first hurdle? If you will forgive me, you also need to get skilled people in the art of language and explanation to completely overhaul the way you run rings round people who are simply trying to get this product installed! I appreciate you need to have serial numbers and activation codes but that is not the complaint....it is the ridiculously involved procedures which seem gratuitously awkward for the sake of being awkward.A few of comments on the program itself (Version 3), which I got running without the content update:1. What is going on with knees?!! There seems to be a line crossing the knee joint of the G3 avatar. What on earth is that doing there?2. I cannot narrow the eyes...only make them smaller. And most of the other Avatar editing offers "mirroring" so an adjustment to one side of a bone is mirrored, logically, to the other. But you don't provide a mirror check box for the eyes. How dumb is that?3. The editing features for the head are so poor, and so limited, it is no wonder that almost all the Iclone faces look exactly the same in every "showcase" I have seen. You've made the mistake that so many animation/3d character producers do: you've made the female faces ludicrously V-shaped so it is hard to avoid the tedious cliche of presenting every female as a pointy chin, thin, anorexic character and that is also why they all tend to look the same. I do recognise that you can broaden the lower face a little, but any more than a little distorts the underlying textures.4. The camera and positioning control boxes are way too small and not properly co-ordinated. Might I suggest you look at Poser's camera control which although too big in size nevertheless allow almost instant manipulation without laboriously clicking on the tiny menu icons in IClone.6. I now see from other posts the version 3 is crashing a lot and I confirm this. If I had known this in advance then I would have downloaded and tried Version 2. By releasing a product that is simply not ready you are only shooting yourselves in the foot and destroying customer confidence. I'm a developer myself and we never, ever release anything which is not throughly tested and the major bugs ironed out. Not doing so just destroys trust. But to be fair to you at least I have not committed to buying V3 Pro (Thank goodness), but I almost did before proceeding with caution.Meantime I would be grateful to know why the Ex Plus Patch download is not making its 216 Megs. Thank you.

I have bought a new HardDrive for all 3D stuff that is adding on.Today I have over 300GB of 3D stuff.I want to reinstall iClone 3 onto the much bigger new drive and wonder if this is a problem.It will not be C: and but in the same system as now.. iClone 3 hangs at start-up

I installed iClone 3 without any problems, however when I start it the main window opens and there is a black window in the foreground. The only thing visible in this window are the words "show at startup", clicking anywhere in this window brings me to the iClone 3 tutorial site.There are no options to close this window, and it is "blocking" the main window. The only way to close it is through the XP task manager. Re-booting the PC has no effect - in short I can't use iClone 3.Any ideas anyone?

avatar members always locked even with template motion

Hi,when i apply a template motion on a character, for example jane_cat walk to Jane G2 character, the members are completely locked. They just move all in one. Elbows, handles and knees are stiff. I take a look at the motion editor but it seems not to solve the problem.What must i do to unlock these joints and get the right movements ?Thanks.

I have two issues going right now. 1. I can't install the free bonus packs for iClone EX Plus. Anytime I try and install anything, it tells me that my product is not registered, yet when I go to the site, it is registered.2. No matter how many times I try, I cannot download the ones marked 'Login' even though I have logged in repeatedly. Where can I get these extra packs?

Moving Content From iClone2 to iClone3

If you had previously been running iClone 2.5 and had custom and installed content packs you may be wondering how you can get all your old content into iClone3. Well if you know how to drag and drop in Windows Explorer it can be done in a few minutes because both programs use the same file folder structure.

Just copy the content from the iClone2 folders directly over to the same named folder for iClone3. For example Props -> Props, Motion -> Motion.

Purchased Content Packs are installed in the locations below:

C:\Program Files\Reallusion\iClone 2\Template\iClone Template\

C:\Program Files\Reallusion\iClone 3\Template\iClone Template\

and your own Custom Content can be found in:

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Reallusion\Custom\iClone 2 Custom

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Reallusion\Custom\iClone 3 Custom

Windows Vista

C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Reallusion\Custom\iClone 2 Custom

Make sure you have backups of your content as a precaution. Also use Copy rather than Move just in case something goes wrong.

lclone pro 3 problem with serial & installation

Iclone 3 crashes on Head/Load Image

When I try to import a head image/face which worked fine on iclone 2.5 the whole kaboodle bombs out and I have to go to Ctrl Alt Del/Task Manager to shut down. Have installed the patch with no effect....Also why does the Avitar/Head/Head not function...??

Can anyone tell me if we got the Horse & Tack Theme Pack for free when we purchased Iclone3 Pro? I just noticed that I have all the Horse & Tack Theme Pack props twice within my program. I just purchased the Horse & Tack Theme Pack for the RL store over the web but really don't want to pay for it if the horses were already in Iclone3 Pro when I purchased the program. Could someone check there Iclone Pro program and let me know. :w00t:

Problem with spotlights

Originally I was not seeing any shadows from any avatars, and I hadn't realized there was a second shadow type option down lower in the lights menus. However in my quest to solve the issue I updated my video card drivers. I was using the catalyst 8.6's ( one month old) and decided to try the 8.7's. When I updated to the 8.7's all of the spotlights in existing projects ( and any new I tried to set up) cast no light what so ever. Ambient and Directional still work, but not spot lights. So I decided to roll back to the 8.6's and unfortunately spotlights didn't work with those now either. I've gone thru my registry and cleaned out all catalyst references and reinstalled the 8.6's with no luck. It's almost like some setting in iClone got disabled, because everything else I use normally works fine with both the 8.6's and the 8.7's. On my second computer they still work fine, it's just not a beefy enough computer to do much work with iclone. I do have iclone set to do pixelshaders, is there any other setting I could be missing that would effect spotlights?Update: I found out that I can actually get the spotlights to work with the shader level set to vertex instead of pixel. Thats atleast something but I'm sure I had it working with pixel shading when I first installed iclone3. Does anyone else using an ATI card have this issue? If not which version of the catalyst drivers are you using?

why isnt my premium log on working . i try and post topics or respond and i get kicked backed to log on ,, most often.. this is really unprofessional but not surprising , all these greedy companies care about is money .. not the customer. take the latest peice of crap patch . that for some of us messes up the program and cant use it till we reinstall the program..

Upgrade Proublem in Iclone3

After many, many, many :crazy: maddening hours and days, striving to get IC 3 EX Plus running in my system i found what was making my life impossible!!!!Unbelievable, Iclone 3 "dislikes" My Nvidia 6200 card. While IC 2.5 runs flawlessly even with a 5200 series card, and incredible fast with the 62 series, Iclone 3 just accepts quick shading mode and also crashes suddenly with the "Iclone 3 has detected a problem..." message and aborts.ALL the responses I am getting are NOT serious. "You need a more "powerful card"... :PWhat is that? :w00t: IF a card supports fully the DirectX 9.0c version, shown by Iclone 2.5, what is this of a "more powerful card"?What is the "mysterious" new feature into Iclone 3 that requires a "spider man" type card?Is this techno superstition? Or a simple flaw work around a problem?Nvidia 6200 series executes ALL video games without a wink. Not a single one fails. Even the latest ones. I just do not understand this and do not accept it either!I am so sorry, because at our school lab, where I was going to install 46 licences of Iclone 3 we have ALL our workstations recently upgraded to Nvidia 6200 cards, because Iclone 2.5 need those!!!!!I am sorry to say this is NOT serious engineering at all. If Iclone 3 can only work with two or three video cards of the hundreds available, it should be advertised as a hardware-software combo, including the acceptable card in the package as an option.I am canceling now my request purchase to my university authorities, as I cannot be responsible of having to change ALL those video cards again.I hope you do understand me, RI good folks! :D

Running iClone3 EX as non-admin on Vista

Hi everybody!I've just installed the iClone3 EX on my Vista PC (under the Administrator's account), but when logged on as the normal, non-admin, user the iClone still require the admin password to be run. Did I missed something, or iClone is required to be run as administrator only? It would be very disappointing if the latter is true, and I'll have to uninstall it - my principle is not to use any applications that cannot run under normal user rights...Thank you,Mac

IClone 3 EX-Plus - Pro tools expired?

This is a 4 day old installation that expired right after installing it, and the Plus pack.Considering iClone 3 hadn't been installed or even been released for 30 days, it shouldn't disable the Pro features that can be tried out for 30 days.I have not even been able to try the timeline or Pro functions because of this. Clicking the timeline pops up a "Pro Features Disabled - 30 Days Expired" window...On the first run.How do I reset this limitation and try out the full EX Plus tool without it having already expired?Does installing the 3.01 patch affect this at all?Thanks for your help!
