The really frustrating thing is that I can Paint a Material onto a sail but then not move it.

I have tried adapting images with the writing on externally so that the originals will be of a sensible dimension but I think Sketch Up converts anything that you open as a "Material" to a square tile, thus distorting any other shape.

]

i opened a galleon, and imported an image ( import options there are 3 boxes ...1) use as image 2) use as a texture 3) use as a new matched photo. )

i have use as a image check off ...i think you might have use as a texture checked off.

i think there is a video tutorial on there site about projecting an image on to a surface. so the image will bend with the sail

http://sketchup.google.com/gsu5vtviewer.html#id=21

i hope that link works....use images as signs is the video you want to see

Steve

RE: Changing Textures in Sketch Up/3DXchange

It looked like it IS the CURVED Face that's causing my problem --->
http://download.sketchup.com/OnlineDoc/gsu_mac/D-Modification_Tools/modtool-PositionTexture.htm

BUT.... following the View --> Hidden Geometry ---> Edit Individual Faces *IS* helpful. I can access the individual strips and re-position anything I like within those segments, it'll take some improvisation but maybe the consequent results will be more interesting than anything I'd've come up with a more direct solution.
Phew ! Just HAPPY to be movin' 'n' makin' progress again....Oooo ! A Blockhead with a Blockage is a curse worse than a Head Bear with a sore Saw sore.
Onward !!

RE: Changing Textures in Sketch Up/3DXchange

Apparently the sail I am looking at on the Galleon Model is a CURVED Face. Does that mean you're not SUPPOSED to be able to adjust the position of graphics on it ?

RE: Changing Textures in Sketch Up/3DXchange

Hi

Thanks for replying. Yep.... I do seem to be STUCK. I *think* I've done as much right-clicking and "Exploding" as I can. Eventually, the option isn't there. It's the same for the Texture Position Tool. I right-click and it isn't listed.

I'm working with one of the Galleons from 3D Warehouse.
