Most importantly, google sketchup is so easy to use it really makes set building almost effortless. Thanks RL for the free upgrade.

Give me point/spot lights as well as posing/manipulation inside IC in the next IC iteration and I'll be very happy indeed.

dh

RE: 3DXchange 2.0 available

thanks Peter for the info - i would have floundered about looking for the download link -

and thanks reallusion for the continuing support. I echo other's comments about your generosity in offering this valuable tool for free. I have been critical of RL in certain areas - especially in the early days if iclone - but what i've found refreshing and trully remarkable (as compared to other software developers) is that RL does listen and RL does care about what its users think. kudos for that and for the continuous improvement of the product

RE: 3DXchange 2.0 available
Peter Edwards (1/13/2008)
Dekknavn, Casina, Mellor
When you go to your Premium Members page and click Registered Programs, are you selecting iClone first? 3DXchange is not listed on its own under Registered Programs, it is found after selecting iClone first as seen in my example image.

Just a thought.
Cheers Peter, things are in place, all is well now.
Mellor

RE: 3DXchange 2.0 available

Glad to hear folks got things sorted and can now enjoy the wonderful benefits of the latest features of 3DXchange 2.0.
Casina says:

and the other comments, from the coolclones crew, it had nothing to do with this problem...and are actually uncalled for...
If anything was uncalled for....it was this comment. The title of the thread was "3DXchange is Available", so sorry, I felt it was an appropiate place to commend Reallusion of their generous upgrade. The other post was diligently answered in great detail by Peter, so should we close the thread down? Unlike some, I like to give credit where it is due. Apparently, the first sentence of my post proves valid.

RE: 3DXchange 2.0 available

yes, Peter, I followed your step by step tutorial, thank you for that...

but with me...it didn't work before...

suddenly... now it does..

it now tells you to put in serial number from the v1.0 version, (that wasn't there the first time I tried)...but now it is...

whatever the problem was....is working now, and whatever was going on before, is fixed now....

and maybe...it is fixed for all...

thank you for your effort on the tutorial...I'm sure it will help a lot of people!

RE: 3DXchange 2.0 available

Dekknavn, Casina, Mellor
When you go to your Premium Members page and click Registered Programs, are you selecting iClone first? 3DXchange is not listed on its own under Registered Programs, it is found after selecting iClone first as seen in my example image.

Just a thought.

RE: 3DXchange 2.0 available

Mellor says:
Yeap, same problem for me also.
Mellor

Casina says:

Good News!

All is fixed now...

I got my FREE upgrade! I would have been more than happy to have paid for this upgrade. Just having the ability to export selected objects makes it worth while. Combined with the direct import/export of SketchUp models, being able to edit them in SketchUp and return to 3DXchange makes this software worth its Bits and Bytes in gold. And all of this for 1.xx users for FREE, I've seldom seen any company making such an advanced upgrade available at no cost to users of a previous version.

Thank you very much Reallusion.

Gerry

RE: 3DXchange 2.0 available

The fact will always remain that you can't please all the people all the time, but I would find it hard to fathom that Reallusion hasn't pleased the masses with it's latest releases. The FREE upgrade for 3DXchange 2.0, and the FREE upgrade to iClone v2.5 both offer many new features that many companies would have charged a fee for. These are the most generous upgrades I've seen in any program given the advancements provided in each of them! With the new Google sketchup importing function in 3DXchange, you are now enabled to practically obtain every prop under the moon. I find the concept of Reallusion offering such a feature most unselfish, and it clearly defines that their intention is to empower the user. Surely they could have stopped at the capabilities granted with 3DXchange v1, but instead they continued development with no additional expense passed on to existing purchasers of 1.0. It is a smooth operating brilliant interface, and I would have GLADLY paid for this ability to add most any prop to the storyboard from free downloads offered on google. I was making a prop using the building blocks the other day, and though it was achievably done, it took much time, and I looked up that very same prop on Google, imported it in 3DXchange, and almost instantly had it on my iclone screen. I have also found items that would have required that you buy the full version of sketchup, or create in 3DS Max which carries an unreachable price for most folks to incorporate in iClone, but thanks to 3DXchange those programs are not needed. The pricing on this feature is beyond reasonable, and if you had v1.0 you certainly can't ask for better than FREE! Kudos to Reallusion for such a generous upgrade! Thank You!
RE: 3DXchange 2.0 available

Hi Dekknavn,

I'm sorry to hear about your problems getting the upgrade.

I take it you mean that 3DXchange is not listed on your members page but iClone is. Is it possible that you registered products using different member names?

If you know for sure that you registered the product under your current username then you will have to contact support about this for a resolution.
